Raw fish and sauvignon blanc night. Pop and pour. An appealing pale golden straw color. On the nose: Muted notes of grapefruit, oak, and a little floral. Taste: minerals, minerals again, vanilla, pear and has a rich mouthfeel with slight acidity..eeehhh, can take it or leave it. — 20 days ago

Ascona Vineyard Syrah 2017

Deliciously complex with layers of fruit and stem influence. Opens in the glass to show classy cool climate notes of soy sauce and west cliff seaweed. Can’t wait to see how this ages. Nice work!!! — 10 days ago

Beautiful Generation Stags Leap District Cabernet Sauvignon 2012

In magnum..luv the foil cap..."it goes to eleven". 1 hour decant (little sediment). A transfixing inky red color. On the nose: blue fruit, floral, cassis, black fruit. Taste: BlackBerry, graphite, minerals, smoke..semi firm tannins and a plush mouthfeel lead to a med- long finish...has more time to go. From the Rock Block series..names diff blocks for his favorite songs or albums. — a month ago

Christopher Tynan Wines

Meleagris Gallopavo Vineyard Old Vines Cabernet Sauvignon 2015

Such a distinct cab, unlike any Cali cab...from a small vineyard above St Helena, planted in the 1970s, only produces 3 barrels by Tynan (winemaker at Lede Family Wines). Buying since initial 2012 vintage...see RP 100pt review of the 2013(wow!!).

3 hour decant (min sediment). A brooding inky dark garnet color. On the nose: blue fruit, floral, sweet cherry, spice, pine tree all burst from the glass. Taste: blueberry, blackberry, smoke, minerals, and lush mouthfeel with firm tannins that goes on and on. More time in the cellar should benefit my remaining bottles!

I do have a 12 of the Reserve, which I didn’t even know existed until I saw it on an auction, not sure what the difference is from this bottling. They don’t have a Reserve anymore.

Interesting..never heard of a reserve...he started with the 2011, but was not up with his standards and never released...first release was the 2012 for the Meleagris Gallopavo cab.

Mount Langi Ghiran

Cliff Edge Shiraz 2010

Mid Ruby in colour. Spicy with a little white pepper on the nose. On the palate spicy savoury Cherry notes. The 2nd wine of the iconic Langi from Mount Langi Ghiran. Finishing with Medium plus intensity and ultra soft tannins. One of the best $30 wines around. — a month ago

Beautiful! Black and red fruits, fig and just the right note of minerals. Feels very smooth in the mouth with a silky texture and nice finish. So happy I have more bottles of this vintage — 2 months ago
