Still so vibrant and articulate at 13 years old… This field blend of 2nd/3rd choice selections is, in excellent harvest, better than 98% of other vineyards best first choice barrels. 46 Merlot… 31CS, 15 PV, 8% cab franc. 10. Boxing day treat with the wife. Pretty much the quintessential "claret." Maybe slightly faded now and on a slow path away from excellent but still lots to enjoy and i love drinking a wine with some history! Ramey’s interpretation of #claret is quite interesting. After 9 years of bottle time it’s aged more than expected. Stewed plum, quite faint dark fruit on the nose. Prominent acidity on palate, primary fruit exited stage left, some sherry notes but still noticeable tannins. 68% #cabernetsauvignon, 18% #merlot, 6% #syrah, 4% #malbec, 4% #petitverdot — 3 months ago
