Château Villars

Trinité Estate

Acaibo Sonoma County Red Blend 2015

2015 vintage. Claire Villars and Gonzague Lurton started in Chalk Hill with the 2012 vintage. This 2015 is a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon (74%), Cabernet Franc (20%) and the remainder Merlot. A bit oaky on first impact, but the fruit is more present the next day so decanting is recommended. Slightly jammy black fruit, with good acidity and length. A very good wine, if not in the same league as Ferrière (and more expensive, at least here in Bordeaux). An estate to watch nevertheless. — 4 years ago

Claire Villars Lurton

Liberal La Fleur De Haut Bages Pauillac Red Bordeaux Blend 2015

I really regret opening this and wish I had kept racked, but the fruit was bright, almost jammy. Light on tannins, alcohol medium, very smooth. Also a great French red. — 4 years ago

Clos Saint-Joseph

Villars-sur-Var Syrah Cabernet Sauvignon 2019

2019 vintage. Decanted and tasted after one hour. Non-committal nose. Light-medium/medium body. Grace and elegance with some dark fruit and earthy markers placed throughout. Overall, it is flowing fairly seamlessly now without bumping into any sharp edges. Expected a bigger wine. Pleased it wasn’t. No previous experience with this wine/producer but maan…having a half-case of this (or more) would really be nice as this covers an absolute ton of food options. 3.13.26. — 2 months ago

Some (surprisingly?) really good Cab-based wines comes out of Provence. And yet I keep forgetting they’re there.
