Hermitage Syrah 2009

Bessards-Greffieux. Tastes 3 years old 😂😂 enveloping richness tempered by sturdy tannin and that classic Hermitage granitic bite. Layered, some part coarse and angular marrying with some parts supple and round. All working very well IMO. The Faury finesse and subtlety is there, this is a thinking wine, perfect for not sharing on Father’s day. — 9 months ago

Château Soutard

Saint-Émilion Red Bordeaux Blend 2010

2010 vintage. Lunch at the excellent restaurant Le Jardin in neighbouring Château Petite Faurie de Soutard (also owned by insurance company La Mondiale, as is Château Larmande). 70% Merlot and 30% Cabernet Franc. — 2 years ago

Château Faurie de Souchard

Grand Cru Classé Saint-Emilion Red Bordeaux Blend 2020

2020 vintage. Once part of the huge Soutard estate, this Château was known as Petit Faurie de Souchard until 1969. In the 1922 edition of Cocks & Feret, it was considered as first growth quality and stylistically somewhere in between the great wines of Saint-Emilion and Pomerol. As in January 2014, it was bought by the Dassault family, it was expected to be incorporated into Dassault, but that doesn't seem to be the plan. Attractive perfume of red fruit, cuberdon, flowers, and spicy oak. Lush, with good depth and concentration, fresh acidity and a long, spicy finish. Very good value. Abv. 14,5%. — 7 months ago

Château Le Grand Faurie

St. Émilion Grand Cru 2020

This is not quite the steal it once was but still the best QPR by miles at Trader Joe’s. A nice right bank Bordeaux with acidic cherries, pencil shavings, vegetal notes, and grippy tannins. — 7 months ago

Château Vieux Faurie

St. Émilion Red Bordeaux Blend 2020

Nice Saint-Emilion to celebrate my place in Montesson. Paired it with Polenta Valsugana, with Gorgonzola, Mascarpone and Chèvre — 10 months ago

Hermitage Les Bessards red Syrah 2014

Beautiful out of the gates. So much deep and savory spice behind a wonderful veil of warm red fruit. Ripe raspberry jam, lovely red plum, pastille, an array of spice from pepper, Ceylon cinnamon, and star anise to menthol and bay leaf. Gorgeous smokey and leathery tones throughout. A show stopper from such a subtle vintage, really inviting with its red profile and aromatics. The tannins have a touch of coarseness, but I find the use of whole cluster to highlight them, it is textural and firm but never sharp. Soulful, love it. Lot 16 12.4. — 4 years ago
