Château Brane Cantenac

Château Cantenac Brown

Margaux Red Bordeaux Blend 2017

Tried twice. Blend of 67% Cab Sauv and 33% Merlot, bigger Cab% in ‘17. Deep Ruby with aromas of dark fruits, oak and spice. On the palate flavors of fresh blackberry, plum and currants with licorice and cigar box spice adding some cedar and slight floral notes. Fine ripe tannins, long finish ending with layers of fruit, cedar and spice. A joy to drink. Opening now but will last another decade+. Nice! — 11 days ago

Nose has a pepper and plumeria. Palate is plum and currant. Waiting to let it breathe before my final vote... — a year ago

Alto de Cantenac Brown Margaux Sauvignon Blanc 2019

Star bright straw yellow. Shy nose of dried quince and honeysuckle. Medium bodied palate of quince, honeysuckle, balsam, and a hint of white pepper on the moderate finish. A bit more woody than I’m used to, but not in an overpowering way. Just very present. Trout almandine would be an excellent match for this classic Bordeaux Blanc. Drink now through 2023 (preferably sooner). — 2 months ago

Grand Cru Classé en 1855 Margaux Red Bordeaux Blend 2018

2018 vintage. Obvs an infant. Well-integrated nose…tough to pick out individual/standout component(s) currently. Light-bodied. Super dry with plenty of dark cherry intensity. Needs at least a half-decade before it decides to play. — 3 months ago

Le Baron de Brane

Margaux Red Bordeaux Blend 2016

Rich, concentrated red fruit on the nose and something savory, almost herbal. Juicy, well/integrated tannins in the palate; inviting and solidly middle weight. Light roast coffee and a buttery, almost butterscotch note really ringing through on the palate. / super tight at first, especially on the nose, but opens up in the decanter, becoming performed and quite vibrant and positively exuding red fruit and that same butterscotch note. Seriously enjoyable. — 2 years ago

BriO de Cantenac Brown Margaux Red Bordeaux Blend 2016

Dark red purple with a near black core. Abundant nose of red currant and leathery tobacco. On the palate red plum, old leather, and tobacco. Medium long finish extends the palate with a bit more fruit. Drink now through 2026 when the ‘16s of the first label begin to show. — 2 months ago

Grand Cru Classe Margaux Red Bordeaux Blend 2006

Clear, deep ruby colour. Clean, pronounced black fruits. Dry, high acidity and tannins beautifully balanced. Full bodied with flavours of blackberries, vanilla, toast. Very good quality and a fantastic accompaniment to the Chateaubriand. A really good birthday dinner. — 2 years ago
