Cave de Tain l'Hermitage

Esprit de Granit St. Joseph Syrah 2020

Yet another exemplary wine from this co-op. Bloody and irony on the nose, some nice fruit underneath the primal elements. Very linear on the palate, medium body but great intensity of savory flavors. So soft and enveloping but without excess weight. Very nice acids. — 2 months ago

Excellent, the Alsatian co-ops also produce really fine QPR wines if you ever find them in the U.S.

Margariat Saint-Joseph Syrah 2021

Lyle Fass
9.7

Needed 1 hour last night then it got reductive. But today oh man! Nose is glorious red fruits, granite, herbs and flowers. Clay, iron ore. Some blackberry as well. palate is raw and feral with blood, guts and meat. Concentrated and linear. Unreal texture and finish but needs a decade. — 2 months ago

Cuvée Isaline Saint Joseph blanc Marsanne Roussanne 2018

Lovely texture, richness without flab. Mineral nose, tropical fruit on the palate. The quenching freshness on the finish really takes this to the next level. Lovely. — 4 years ago

The best are imported Lyle Fass from Ziereisen on very rare occasions they can be found in a store. Ziereisens wine beat what i have tasted from Switzerland - but hey the guy is almost in Switzerland.

@Pinotman /// Andreas thanks for this. I’ve only ever had Swiss Chasselas and will keep my eyes open for Ziereisen.
