Fattoria Poggerino

Chianti Classico Sangiovese Blend 2020

Smells of roses, red berries and menthol, with almost candied but not sweet fruit undercurrents. It’s elegant but energetic, honestly the best dance partner when you want someone who can Dance with a capital D but also have fun. Honestly, all of Poggerino’s wines were exceptional, one of my favorite stops in Chianti Classico. — 4 years ago

Azienda Agricola Le Ragnaie

Rosso di Montalcino Sangiovese 2016

Fabulous sangiovese...equals and betters many of its more exalted brethren with a capital B. 2016 drinks beautifully with a few hours in the decanter. Plump cherries, leather, camphor, violets on the nose. Rich, great acid, softening tannins. Love this. — 5 years ago

Pahlmeyer

Jayson Napa County Red Blend 2023

@Delectable Wine -This wine is the Jayson by Pahlmeyer “The Bench” Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon. Dark ruby color. Aromas of black berry fruit and sweet oak. Dark blackberry, boysenberry, black currant and plum fruit with additional notes of chocolate and black pepper. Very long finish that has an acidic bite. Extremely fruit forward, concentrated and plush. Still quite young, so more bottle age may be needed. Part of the Capital Grill 2025 Generous Pour Program. We were told that this is the initial vintage of this wine. — 10 months ago

Espectacle del Montsant

Montsant Garnacha 2009

Pronounced “Es-peck-tuckle dell Mont-sunt.” Located in so-called armpit of Spain’s prestigious wine country principally because of its rustic quality. I read the wine is called “Spectacle” because it showed the wine world its natural potential was detracted by lack of literacy & operating capital. Intense fruit nose with sweet spice. Palate is somewhat tight & heavy with black fruits, sweet cacao & pepper spice. Big tannins, well balanced with lingering finesse, ending with a jolt of spice. Tasting Sample. Needs time or decanting! — 8 years ago

@Shay A Same here. I’ve only had it 2-3 times and each one of those times I’ve looked at the label and found myself surprised all over again that it’s not Napa. It’s a solid pick.
