Label calls this ‘The Explorer’ not ‘Reserve’. Also ‘Canoe Ridge Vineyard’. I think the label is a bit too much with a canoe theme. Wine is dark rose 🌹 colored and smells like essential oils and flower petals. Not much fruit on the nose. Flavors are fruity. Dense fruit though. Something cooked and concentrated. Nice licorice bite in there too. Hint of smoke. Kinda an abrupt finish though. It’s nice stuff. Not as complex and lingering as the best of them, but did not disappoint. — 4 years ago
Nice blackberry, vanilla and soft tannins. Fruit flavors are present and nicely balanced. Paired well with the cast iron bavette. — 6 years ago
From canoe. Perfect for smoked turkey — 6 years ago
Taken to Canoe House at the Mauna Lani on the Big Island. Awesome aged Raveneau nose. Rich and heavy in the mouth. Notes of citrus, apricot, sea shells, white clay and tan spice. In the zone. Shared a glass with our server/somm. When the bill came, “we have a strict corkage policy but it’s waived when it’s Raveneau “. Ha! — 3 years ago
I’m a huge fan of older wines but this might be the oldest I’ve ever had… wow 🤩 it’s delicious. Granted the cork fell apart quickly but even a little cork doesn’t take away from this wine! On the note a hint of bourbon on the nose. — 4 years ago
Very delish. Had it at Canoe with Josh — 4 years ago
The debate was painful to watch, as expected. A good glass of wine would certainly help.
My last bottle of this magnificent 07’ Merlot. I don’t think I will able to find another $10 bottle that will age this beautifully. — 6 years ago

Green apples, slight honey and petrol. There is a sweetness to the acidity. It’s delicate. There is a slight wet creek rock meets little white wild flowers taste to it. I feel like I should be by a gently flowing river in spring that you would find in a Disney movie… maybe sitting in a canoe. I would pair this with a Pudelpointer, a water fowl retrieving dog from Germany. Both wine and dog are friendly, calm, and disciplined. — 3 years ago
