Good balanced between fruity and acidity. Acidic but really good enough to stimulate me. One of the approachable Nebbiolo from just opening it. Barolo Nebbiolo 1964

Great old bottle with a decent fill. Thin, watery, very light and very translucent reddish amber color. Exciting nose. Notes of sweet tobacco, roses, tea leaves, cherries, some raisins and a little. menthol. As old and thin in color as this was, it powered up with structure as it got some air. Has a beautiful old Barolo perfume. After a few hours it began to fade but I can’t complain with how this delivered tonight. — 6 hours ago

2016 Barolo is seriously a gift. This wine is just ridiculous. Nose is platonic ideal of the best roses you can imagine. Just so high toned, so haunting. There’s just insane, clearly defined fruit as well interspersed with the over the top flower store florality. Mint, menthol, tar, tree bark. So much. So pretty. So elegant. So layered, beautiful and complex. Nothing like when a Barolo nose is turned to 11. Smells like Grand Cru burg it Chambolle 1er Cru. Has a RSV vibe to it. Palate is just velvet. Bonkers velvet. Unreal levels of sweet mid season cherry fruit that is so wel defined, so pure you would think this is a fancy Cru Barolo. So long and deep. The elegance is crazy. Then it crashes your palate with powerful and deep fruit. Amazing tannin quality and a dissolve that is just sick. This is special. Echoes forever on the finish. This wine stays with you in so many ways and has that “expensive wine fruit” big time. — 3 days ago

Best labels in the Langhe. That gnome rules. Gorgeous nose of dried roses, leather, tar, very earthy as well. Deep, cherry and penetrating. Just so good. Smells like a Barolo. Haunting. Mineral. Mint. Just so good. Palate is elegant and has terrific deep cherry fruit and has terrific precision. Terrific thrust on the palate with big, juicy but significant tannins that leads into terrific fruit. Loads of early season cherry fruit. Terrific mouthfeel. — 3 days ago

Santo Stefano di Neive Riserva Barbaresco Nebbiolo 1988

Brownish amber color, translucent. Sweet nose. Notes of cherries, sweet raisins, roses, some tar, dark earth and peppery spice. Rich mouth feel. Silky. Fruit is faded at first but then becomes a bit more prominent. Needed 3 hours of air to power up the structure and acidity. In hour 5 this was singing! The amber color and slightly faded fruit scares me about how long of a life these bottles have, but there’s no denying that tonight this is a powerhouse and hopefully it delivers for many years to come. — 6 hours ago

Barolo Nebbiolo 2013

Strawberry, cherry along with almond, licorice and another vegetal thing I just can't place. The palate is very well balanced with a monster of an acid backbone, some red fruit shining all along, good width with some nice grippy, vivid mouthfeel, very lively, pointy tannins that kick up a very long finish with fruit and almond. We paired it with a splendid 45 days matured beef spare rib of bœuf de Galice on the barbecue. A pairing made in heaven. — 2 days ago

Super nose of black and sour cherry and a bit of hay too along with floral notes (violet) That's very good.
The palate is very well balanced with a bright cherry all along à very long and strong acid backbone, some width and a finish made of cherry and flowers. So good!
