Tonight's wine class was all about Malbec. My excitement caused a bit of a mess. Enjoyed this bottle. Seemed "boring" at first but really opened up as the lesson went on. I'm convinced this will go great with our meal tonight. — 24 days ago

Black berry fruit, charred meat, embers with an irony minerality. Beautifully balanced at the moment. — a month ago

Clos Triguedina Cahors Malbec 2011

Cherry, wild berry, smoke, menthol, dried herbs and bret that’s trying to take over but hanging in the background. By day two and three, bret had overwhelmed the wine. For 2011, everything is still intact. — 9 days ago

Coutale Rosé Cahors Malbec 2018

I really like Coutale’s Cahors wine. This took some getting used to, but opened up into a pretty nice bottle. The fruit is tart, but with air it takes on a savory quality that adds complexity. Fresh acid adds some lift as well. — a month ago

Château de Haute-Serre Malbec 2015

Another excellent vintage of this great Cahors. Just a bit of Merlot and Tannat is blended with the Malbec. Deep purple color and firm structure, but the tannins are very balanced. Ripe Blue and Black fruit aromas and flavors with hints of leather, black licorice and tobacco. Drink now or hold. Excellent! — a month ago

Clos de Gamot Cahors Malbec 1990

Nose has barnyard blackberries, black leather jacket, ripe plum, (light) cedar box, poached plum, mashed tart cherry and slight alcohol.

Palate has warmed plum, boysenberry, blackberry, dried citrus pith, scorched earth and very drying to the palate, like it's removing all the moisture from your mouth. This bottle had been constantly evolving all night, up and down traits with quite varied experiences with my tasting companions this evening.

Decanted 8h before tasting, likely would appreciate even more time. Future bottles can be 2025+.

Perfect pair to homemade burgers from a local farmer in Columbia Co. NY (Kinderhook Farm), cooked to a beautiful medium-rare served on toasted brioche burger rolls.

Cahors Malbec 2009

One of the best Cahors Malbecs l’ve ever tasted. Be sure to decant 1 hour prior to drinking. Exactly like the one we had at an outside cafe in Cahors. — a month ago
