Cider-esque haziness sports spongy fluff with bouncy bubbles, sheet lacing which tears to brains folds, or nut interiors. Lemon-lime and grapefruit gummies explode dangly. Apricots, tangerines, lemongrass and ginger nose. Briny grapefruit with iodized aspects, and shimmery mineral plating. Sweetness imperceptible; glistening acid trails. Clementine peel bite.

I really want to like this wine. I will say that this has definitely changed, but I'm not so sure that the overall score changes much for me (last note was 8.9 for different reasons). This is not a zin that is true to form. I get tart fruit here, and plum. I don't think either of those characteristics belongs in a zin. I am happy with the weight, structure, and finish of this wine. It is a well made wine which is made by a winemaker that is to be respected. But the wine just doesn't do it. More reminiscent of zinfandel via the nose, which is a little bit brambly in characteristic, some flowers, some black and purple fruits. But the entry is sharp, tart, plum, some raisin, fig, earthy middle, acidic finish which has a mild tannin. Definitely wouldn't kick it out of the bed for eating crackers, but I would have guessed that this was a mixed grapes wine that was headed downhill maybe a touch. — 8 years ago
2012 Merlot. Nice. Leather and fruity goodness. Some mulberry licorice in the middle. Spice at the end. — 10 years ago
Wonderful, reasonably priced wine that stands up well to spicy food, yet does not overpower beef dishes. This seems to be a good all-around wine. Would proudly serve this to company. — 11 years ago
Very fruity, easy on mouth and great for meat and pasta! — 7 months ago
Surprisingly good for a blend with Chardonnay. Hotel owner gave it to us as a gift in Puerto Escondido. — 7 years ago
This is dope, great to taste a stylistic departure from the Commando G and other Landi wines. This is structured, more extracted and incorporating some new oak it seems (very well I might add). This 2011 is drinking great. Nose is fragrant with rich tones of raspberry confiture, roasted red plums, powdered sugar, sweet wood, mushroom, asian spices. Palate is beguiling, roasted/cooked fruit character matching followed by cinnamon, pastilles, sweet licorice, amaro spice, coffee, and garrigue. Structured with present yet fine tannin, definitely highlighted by the oak upbringing. — 7 years ago
At the price, this is probably one of the best QPR buys in SB. Pours a light straw into the glass. Nose of lemon and peach. The entry of this wine is mostly lemon rind, and some pineapple. Finishes with a hint of limestone on the palate, strong lemon notes, some tart, makes your mouth pucker. Good grip to this wine. Will be a great summer drinker, if I can make any of my remaining bottles last that long. Sadly, none of them will make it I'm almost certain. — 8 years ago

76% Merlot, 11% Syrah, 8% Blaufrankish, 4% Cab Franc, 1% Teroldego.
My first East Coast red wine. Woot! Fantastic semi-uncomplicated (has some dark twist and turns) fruity and tasty Tuesday night pour. Table wine.
Plum, cherry, rose, hint of soil, vine and leaf (?Franc?) light-medium body, 12% ABV.
Reminds me of some young vine wines from the Escondido-Baja region. Happy to start seeing East Coast wines making their way to the West Coast. This is also my first encounter with Teroldego, which seems to be avoiding my orbit.
Good Job! More please! — 6 years ago
A great dessert type wine! From one of only a handful of wineries in Cañon City, CO. Full of raspberry and blueberry flavors. Reminiscent of a light port. — 8 years ago
Super smooth - like the shady bitches I'm drinking with! 😉 — 10 years ago

Spicy! With bright berries & great structure. Long finish. Really enjoyed this Zin that's as bold as Texas! — 11 years ago
