Light flavor and not as sweet as the Marlborough sauv blancs. Enjoyed in Cairns QLD. — 10 years ago
Very nice - especially considering that it was the fourth of the evening and followed a French 1er Cru Clos de Vougeot. ABV 12. Ontario's Prince Edward Country. Nice balance, plus some fruit. With Gordon, Chris, Gail. — 11 years ago
Still catching up with notes from before the Cairns trip. A mature Clare Valley Riesling still with a 5+ year future. Citrus flowers of lime and lemon with a sherbet note. Developing a paraffin nuance. Drinking well with a refreshing citric acid cut to cleanse the palate. Moreish. — 5 years ago
Our final long lunch in Cairns at the Salt House on the waterfront. No formal notes but i have always loved this Shiraz from Waiheke Island in the middle of Auckland Harbour NZ. Plummy spicy and savoury with supple tannins. Overtones of Northern Rhone and easy to drink. — 5 years ago
Got in Ottawa. Great summer wine, not too sweet. — 7 years ago
Our final lunch in Cairns last Sunday for the boys weekend away. A wonderful lunch at the Salt House on the Cairns waterfront. No formal notes. Pepik is the 2nd label of Josef Chromy from the East coast of Tasmania. Red fruits on nose and palate with a little white pepper. A good match with the superb seafood curry. — 5 years ago
The first of 3 Yalumba Octavius Shiraz brought to the Cairns BYO Indian restaurant. No formal notes but you could use the notes for the just posted Elderton Command. The other 2 Octavius drunk on the night were 2015 and 2016 which were excellent but way too young. — 5 years ago
An excellent wine brought to the BYO Indian Restaurant in Cairns. Close to the WOTN, thanks Lindsay. Coriole’s Lloyd Shiraz has always been a rich wonderful full bodied expression of old vine McLaren Vale fruit. Red and black fruits with chocolate and supple fluid tannins. From an excellent vintage. Great stuff. — 5 years ago
Annual Boys Trip away - this time to Cairns. My contribution to the BYO Dinner at an Indian Restaurant. No formal notes but these are so long living even at 13 years, and first of 6, this is considered as young. Plums and herbs. One of my favourite Penfolds Cuvées because of its lack of new oak - 90% fruit driven. Excellent with a long future. — 5 years ago
