It’s always the last bottle that seems to be the best. This is a gamay and Pinot Noir blend from a producer that makes incredible Burgundy like Chardonnay. Red fruits, acid medium plus, underbrush & wild berries on nose. With the age much tartness has been replaced by depth. Somehow has a stateliness about it- nothing rustic here. Well aged in Magnum format. A very beautiful beaujolese vintage who pinotes as we like. Notes of grape variety: cherries, rose petals and iris.. Beautiful notes of evolution dried flowers, truffled, humus. The 2015 density and the evolving aerial nuances of gamay form a rich and refined bouquet. Very greedy. Interesting final for this type of wine.

Cherries, roses, damp soil, finish a bit clipped and astringent so needs food but overall very solid. I won’t even give it the backhanded “good for the category” compliment—it’s just good, no qualifier necessary. Who says you can’t age basic Burg? — 12 days ago
