Domaine du Coulet (Matthieu Barret)

Petit Ours Brun Côtes du Rhône Syrah

Nose - lilacs, soil, clay amphora and erasers! (Haha) Flavors - cranberry and tart blueberries. Mouthfeel - a bit sharp and acidic with a semi dry finish some tannins but not too much. Look - gorgeous garnet color. Food - went sooo very well with the lamb my hubs made. — 2 days ago

Roger Brun

Réserve Familiale Extra Brut Aÿ Grand Cru Champagne Blend 2004

Hot summer day and a lot of work around the house - needed something refreshing. An unusual champagne that was part of a direct import in 2023. A good price at $87 and 2004 was not a bad year. Funky bottle, but aside from that, a down to earth vintage bottling that hits the spot and punches a decent QPR. Yeasty brioche, apple, and toasted almonds with a nice and not overpowering tartness. Not regretting buying (and drinking) this uncommon champagne. — 10 months ago

Châteauneuf-du-Pape Red Rhone Blend 2019

Solid CdeP. Enjoyed at home with a beef tenderloin with green peppercorn sauce (with black pepper, white pepper, cognac and cream). Nice pepper in the wine to complement the sauce. Had a bottle of the 2019 a couple of years ago, shortly after release. The additional time has helped mellow the wine. Did not decant, but opened about 45-60 minutes before sitting down, and drank a small glass to taste and open more surface area. — 9 days ago

Cuvée l'Anciene Beaujolais-Villages Nouveau Gamay 2025

From White Horse Wine and Spirits, I think? Cherry cola, liquorice, oak or cedar, maybe some grass too. Fresh and young. — 3 months ago

Côte de Brouilly Gamay 2011

This aged Beaujolais is just gorgeous, crushed red berries, minerals, floral, great acidity, long, lingering finish, could easily evolve another 5 years in a cold cellar, truly an outstanding wine from a great Beaujolais vintage!! — 7 months ago

Domaine Thevenot Le Brun & Fils

Bourgogne Hautes-Côtes de Beaune Pinot Noir 2022

Light garnet color with a small ruby core. Aromas of wet soil, red berries and dried rose petals. Flavors of raspberries, red currants, mushrooms and savory spices. Long lasting finish. Gripping acidity with very silky tannins. Light bodied and quite savory but still full of finesse. Needs a bit of aeration to fully open up. Solid value and nice mid-week option. Thanks for the bottle, Kase. — 2 months ago

Very nice Pinot. Good cherry notes and a little earthy. Paired well with a beef stew — 6 months ago

Château Cheval Brun

Saint Émilion Red Bordeaux Blend 2018

Medium ruby in color; blackberries, cassis, and graphite on the nose; medium acidity; high tannins; tastes like black cherries, black currants, and wet gravel with a long finish. Needs to decant. It was much better after an hour in the decanter. Nellie said it was ok. I like it. — 10 months ago
