A blend of Trepat (50%) with Monastrell (30%) and Pinot Noir (20%), the ‘Los Cupages de Mestres’ Rose was disgorged in 2018. Very delicate red cherry and guava tones combine with musty aromas of wild mushroom and peat moss on this expressive nose. The palate has a soft mousse and wonderful balance and poise. Lighter watermelon and red raspberry collide with shades of blood orange and pear infused Challah bread flavors. Complex, round and generous, this is a complete Cava Rose by Mestres that will cellar well over the next ten to fifteen years. Drink 2020-2033- 92 — 6 years ago

Tangy leesy quince and preserved lemon make for a departure from the typical fainter Cava. Substantive without weight and floral on a savory spectrum, this is delicious right here on its own but I imagine would pair well with tender pulpo over crisp, roasted potatoes under a gentle shake of ground paprika. — 10 years ago

Popped and poured; enjoyed over the course of an hour. The 2013 “Visol” pours a straw color with a persistent mousse. On the nose, the wine is developing with notes of peach, lemon, light brioche, and minerals. On the palate, the wine is dry with medium+ acid. Confirming the notes from the nose. There is a chalky mineral and almost fino sherry-like finish, which is medium. Mestres does such a great job. Drink now. — 5 months ago
