A couple of months ago I ordered a bottle of Lebanese wine at a local wine bar. After reviewing it, the owner of the winery got in contact with me. He decided to fly down to Orlando to meet with me, and brought a couple of nice bottles for us to drink.
The first one is a GSM blend that shows black and red fruits, wood, earth, vegetables, tobacco leaf, spices, wet leaves, black tea, dark coffee and peppercorn.
Dry on the palate with medium acidity.
Nice length on the finish with fine grained tannins and tangy raspberries.
Needs 45 minutes to open up properly, and show the tannins.
A blend of 55% Grenache, 30% Mourvedre and 15% Syrah. Aged in French oak barrels for 18 months.
14.5% alcohol by volume.

Dark purple core reaching all the way to the rim. A dazzling array of ripe fruit fly out of the glass; blueberry, black plum and bring cherry with hints of mint and espresso. The mouth is full and rich, weighty with the texture of glycerine. The tannins are grippy with black tea like bite. There is an endless chorus of ripe, juicy fruit and a finish that never fades. Can't wait to try this in 10 years! — 6 years ago
Tasted blind. This bottle was purchased directly from the winery on allocation and stored in a cold cellar since release. The ruby color is frightfully deep, almost black. Intense aromas with a laser-like precision of blackcurrant, crushed rocks, orange rind, chocolate, black cherry, mint, cloves and a dash of bourbon vanilla introduce the 2007 Screaming Eagle. The palate is a complete knockout: Full-bodied, extremely concentrated with pixelated, polished tannins, built like a skyscraper with an almost never ending finish. This is a massive Napa Cab, but despite all its power, it still retains freshness and elegance. The top of the cork reads "fly high and proud". Drink now until 2040. — 2 years ago
Black and blue fruits, smoky, tons of black pepper, mod acid, mod tannin, high booze, but not terribly jammy...well done — 7 years ago
The very definition of velvet wrapped in an iron fist. It is singing on my palate.
This Dry Creek is better than the Select Terraces I’ve opened lately. Deep, black, ripe, ruby, currants, blackberries, black plum, plum, black raspberries, boysenberries, blue hues, dark cherries, crazy, deep, Indian spices, dark berry cola, cinnamon stick, nutmeg, vanilla, caramel, malt balls, fresh tobacco, used leather, tree bark w/ sap, steeped fruit tea, limestone, crushed risks, river stone, forest floor with dry leaves, dry herbaceous notes, endless rainbow of florals, beautiful acidity and well balanced, structure and tension that is tightly knit with finish for days.
Crazy, stupid, producer that continues to fly well below the radar. I am thankful it does.
This 2010 has 10 years plus of life left ahead. The best Ca Cabernet I’ve had in many years. Wine affects me differently than most but this wine is like a full body massage. Maybe, that is why I discovered my palate. — a year ago
This is a very sophisticated Zin. Sophisticated as in raised-on-classical-but-moved-to-big-city-and-got-into-BillieEilish-but-go- waltzing-for-fun way. Shall I be textbook? Let’s.
Eye: medium ruby red thick big ol’ tears
Nose: leaps out! Licorice red/blue/black fruit but mostly like stewed dried cranberries and spice and vanilla bean
Tongue (mine) dry, medium acid, medium plush ripe tannins, high booze level (checking to see if I was correct)ohhhh 14.8! So yeah high abv.
Body is medium plus. Intensity medium plus. It’s all ripe and raisined purple plum, black cherries, blackberries and all of these fruits are dried and ripe plus a handful of blueberries and a slosh of vanilla bean liqueur and some allspice or even...velvet falernum. Finish is medium plus.
This is a Zin I want in my life forevs

I’m always interested to discover new #costcowines. For the price a really nice wine especially if you enjoy the bigger Napa style yet with some Old World sensibilities. Black and purple berry jammy nose, touch of vanilla and spices from new oak. On the palate the 15% ABV does show through - this is a hot wine without a lot of acidity to offset the fruit and booze; no tannins really on the finish. — 4 months ago
