Bin No 1 Great Western Shiraz 2011

2012 Jimmy Watson winner. No Bin 1 or Thompson family made in 20111 due to wet year so all the best fruit in this wine, drinking very nicely but noticeably greenish and lighter due to poor year. — 3 months ago

This is my jam, small percentages of old and young Meunier plantings with a unique PN planting.

Old Vines Pinot Meunier 2016

This wine is somewhat of a unicorn being made from vines planted in 1868 believed to be the oldest Pinot Meunière vines still being used to make wine in the world. I decanted this wine but probably no need as there was zero sediment. Colour was a transparent light Ruby red. A palate of bright red cherries with a toffee note. Light to medium weight palate. Not as complex as an older example I once tried which was stunning and different. This has a long life ahead of it. This is the first of 3 and not ready yet. — 3 years ago

Great Western Dolcetto 2017

Light and fruity with enough depth to compel. Savoury and balanced acid. 750ml is hardly enough. — 6 years ago

Great Western Gewürztraminer 1981

Blind tasted in the Best’s cellar today and nailed it!
I called it as early 80’s Riesling or Gewurzt.
Honey and acid. Cork was shot, shoulder was low but it was a survival story of the ages.

LSV Shiraz Viognier 2020

Absolutely lovely cool climate Shiraz with just a little Viognier, the “LSV” stands for, I think, the first initial of the winemaker who made it, with the S for Shiraz and the “V” for Viognier, medium-long finish, not exported. — 3 years ago
