Beechworth, North East

A. Rodda

Smiths Vineyard Chardonnay 2021

Beechworth is in the foothills of the Victorian Alps and is fast becoming one of the premier districts for Chardonnay in Australia thanks to the burgeoning success of Giaconda (and also Savaterre). The Rodda Smiths Vineyard is a neighbour to these 2 Icons. Aromatics of grapefruit, white flowers and grilled nuts. On the medium bodied palate Peach, citrus and ripe grapefruit of medium plus intensity. Ticks all the boxes. 2021 was an excellent vintage in Beechworth as it was for most of Australia. Excellent wine and good value. — 2 days ago

Sweet toffee, lovely citrus fruits, and dried Sunmaid raisins as well, suave, balanced, rich sweet flavors, such a lovely, easy-drinking sweet dessert wine, also Level 2 “Classic” like the Chambers from last night, excellent!! — 2 years ago

Jen Pfeiffer Rock it Like a Redhead The Rebel North East Merlot 2021

Great wine to enjoy with a friend or alone!
Before I opened, refrigerated for 20 minutes and The more I let it breathe the more I enjoyed the wine. The Tempranillo grape used for this wine, made it a wine I would definitely drink again.

Warner Beechworth Syrah 2013

Honeymoon wine! Lush and robust, nose a little funky, but the taste is phenomenal! Dark berries, kirsch, lomey soil, dried herbs, and smoky! Fantastico! — 3 months ago

Chambers Rosewood

Grand Rutherglen Muscat

The perfect accompaniment to plum pudding. Very toffee and raisiny with intensity at 18.5% ABV. My son who rarely drinks anything loved it. Don’t worry. I’m sure I haven’t created a monster. He still went for his regular 10K run on Boxing Day. Rutherglen fortifieds are one of Australia’s gifts to the world of wine. — 9 months ago
