Upon opening, stable scents, but so close to the meadow and to decomposing grass that the manure smell is actually wonderful. This shapeshifts into a bit of beef jerky. And then after that, there is just an avalanche of red and purple fruit. On the nose and the palate. Black plums and cherries, but only just-ripe. Herbs, oriental spices, amaaazing concentration, so crystalline and pure. Serious tannins for gamay. Really next level stuff. And from a vintage I don’t even care for. — 4 years ago
Stunning nose. Just sick. Smells like Sozet. Savory, stemmy, blueberry, smoke, granite and so much berry berry fruit. Wild aromas but also focused and clear. Mint as well. Stunning granitic expression. Palate is an avalanche of fruit that is concentrated and insanely juicy but also has amazing delicate but substantial tannins. Almost creamy but also huge granitic expression and insane freshness. Succulent and lip smacking. So clean and pure as the driven snow. Stunningly long finish that just pitter patters for minutes until it’s no longer on ones palate. This guy is a star. What balance and poise. It’s very fruity now with a granitic backbone but will age gloriously for 10-18 years. What a wine. — 5 years ago
Well made Swiss Pinot. Drank really well on day 1. Became more round on day 2. — 3 years ago
Citrusy, refreshing, light 👌 — 4 years ago
An avalanche of blueberries. Hints of violets and leather. A slight “green” quality, probably from the Cab Franc. Big tannins and finish. Pleasant surprise. Revisited in July 2022. Fruit (after three years) now more cooked plum/prunes. “Slight Green” quality still present. Interesting evolution. — 6 years ago
What a beautiful homage to Rhone wines. Leafy forest floor in the nose invites you in. And then it's an avalanche of complexity; a rainbow of leather, cacao, cardamom, granite, and just a touch of black currant and barnyard funk. Utterly delicious and delightful. — 3 years ago
Valencay blanc les beaux monts 2019, vignoble Roy
Very floral nose with elder flower, an herbal touch too. There is a citrusy nose too with yuzu and lemon. That's a good Sauvignon nose. The palate is easy going with a strong acid drive, a nice lemony note all along, a strong grip, a nice build up in mid palate and a long finish with lemon and lemon peel notes in the end, bringing a slight bitter note. It was served along a raclette (the very last one of the season) and held its ground quite nicely against an avalanche of melting dairy based heaven. — 4 years ago
Roses. I missed this bouquet note in my first bottle, but this feels like a rose petal avalanche. Leafy greens of peppery kale and candied apricots and sweet sweet plums.
Oh man, feels like the sun gods pouring a life giving nectar from the skies. Nectarines and citrus notes blend seamlessly with a wave of sage, coated between murmurations of, again, rose.
Wonderfully bubbly. Wonderfully delicious. A favorite this summer.

Wow that’s intense. 18 mo. on the lees.
A 2012 bottling.
The nose is like peach pits/kerosene, mineral and waxy. Pears/Apples.Your first sip is an avalanche of rocks & acid. Bright orange/yellow flowers abound. Prickly on the tongue. Most interesting. After air, you get a sense of roasted oranges.
A bit of dry honey on the finish. — a year ago
