First take: it’s a bit muddled and flabby….lacking crisp structure. It is young so I will test on day two. Day 2.5: impressively, air has brought this one to life! Clarity and articulation are now present. The character profile is still medium+ weighted fresh red/black cherry with a delicate green herby frame. First bottling for this Cesanese del Piglio producer, and it’s very interesting. Still young and a bit harsh on the tannins, but the style is lean and elegant. Not a typical Cesanese. Notes of Dolcetto-like dark fruit, crossed with floral Nebbiolo elements. — 6 years ago
