Estate Grown Bob's Burn Pile Cabernet Sauvignon 2012

For me it has easily been a year since the last time I experienced one of these. And wow let me tell you this one would STILL confuse me if I was blindfolded and asked to tell the year of vintage. I would have guessed 2014 or 2015. This wine is POWERFUL. Complex, deep, structure is massive. The nose of this wine is blackberry and dark chocolate. The entry is dark, deep blackberry, cassis, smokey. Middle has some mint chocolate chip, dates. Finishes strong, very youthful, immense amount of black pepper and still quite tannic. Still has 7-10 years in it. Drink 2018-2028 — 2 days ago

Stone Ranch Zinfandel

Took an hour to open up in decanter. Initially heavy balsamic on the nose. Pepper and overly rich on first taste to the point of thinking oxidation. But settled into a balance of slight earth notes, soft but well rounded mouthfeel. Easy to drink and enjoyed with a nice buratta with crispy speck. — 2 days ago

Alexander Valley Sauvignon Blanc 2016

Very nice vegetal sauv blanc. Some peachy lime accents by no gooseberry or passion fruit. Not a big finish, but a lovely summer grassy SB we had with soft shells, lobster, and veal. — 3 days ago

Estrella Clone Syrah 2014

Spice and cherry on the nose. More spice and stewed cherry on the palate with molasses, cedar, and oak. Moderate acid in the finish that coats the whole tongue and lingers well after the rest is gone. Drinking bright and fresh with high alcohol, I think this would pair well with a Philly Cheesesteak, pastrami, and various sausage dishes. — a month ago

Alexander Valley Merlot 2013

Consistently good, but also consistently needs a few years to work itself out. Tonight was no exception. I recently took delivery of the 2015, which needs probably 3 years before it can be touched. This 2013 had major acidity issues for about 2 hours after cork pop. Once it settled down it became very enjoyable. Almost a purple fruit on this one, but more of a dirty black cherry with saddle leather and hints of allspice. Finishes with some pepper and tannin. Very enjoyable. Not a knockout, but an easy 9.3. — 10 days ago

Alexander Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 2014

The residual sugar I noticed 6 months ago is starting to fade ever so slightly. Good, not complex. — 8 days ago

Angeli Cuvée Alexander Valley Zinfandel Blend 2013

Dried florals, asian spice, potpourri. Tannins have kept their firm approach but meld well with this spice driven wine. Showing great — 6 days ago

Alexander Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 2014

Founded in 1972, Tom & Sally Jordan, from CO, decided to head to CA’s wine country and produced their inaugural vintage in 1976 vintage. A Fav of mine with a steak, and the ‘14 is big! Blend of 79% Cab Sauv, 13.7% Merlot, 5.8% Petit Verdot, 1.2% Malbec & 0.3% Cab Franc. Deep Ruby red with aromas of red fruit and perfume spice. On the palate flavors of cherry and blackberry with oak, sweet spice and cacao notes. Rich tannins, well balanced and integrated with fruit and oak. Recommend decanting! Very Nice! — 12 days ago

Dessert Viognier 2011

This vintage is just starting to exhibit caramel flavors on top of the sweet fruit and spice features. It is complex and sweet, but not too sweet. If I had another bottle I'd let it sit for another ten years when it will surely be outstanding. — 4 days ago

Kungfu Girl Washington State Riesling

#anotheroneescapes #frikkiescellar one of my #favourite #grapes!! #Riesling - 2016 #KungFuGirl by @charlessmithwines (we love the label btw) it comes from a #singlevineyard in #AncientLakes of Columbia Valley #Washington USA. It so reflects the area: apple, pear, peach and light citrus tones follow by a hint of petroleumere. Which follows through to the palate, refreshing - #perfectmatch for a #hotsummersday #summersday to be #shared with #great #friends — 7 days ago
