Scherrer Vineyard Old and Mature Vines Zinfandel 2002

Last bottle — opened for an old friend and like the PN alongside, this was a stunner, nearly flawless. Intact cork, bunch of sediment, and after only half hour in the decanter it was game time. Had PN and this alongside gorgeous ribeye — 2 days ago

Spoken from first hand experience, Scherrer’s are one of the few good Zinfandel bets for extended aging into very special wine. Good young too.

Landslide Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon 2019

Wonderful California Cab, with hints dark cherry and licorice. Perfectly balanced with a hint of sweetness, but not fruity at all. Finishes with a nice grippy tannins. My perfect wine. — 3 months ago

Silver Oak

Alexander Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 2020

Deep ruby; medium plus aromas of new leather, coconut, cocoa nibs, ripe red and black plums; high alcohol, high tannins — 15 hours ago

Château Smith Haut Lafitte

Grand Cru Classé de Graves Red Bordeaux Blend

Birth year tastings, evening 4.
Cherries, licorice, ink, plums, sun-dried tomatoes, fresh and tart notes, graphite, well-balanced, still youthful, bay leaf and ‘trekdrop’ on the finish. Grape seed bitters. Seemed completely ready to enjoy after popping the bottle, but a few hours later it fully blossomed! Coffee grind, tobacco, and all of the impressions above blended together in a gorgeous way. So I’d say this has just hit the start of it’s drinking window.

PnP. Big wine with great depth, but massive oak. Lots of life left. Will try my other bottle in 5yrs and hope the oak tones down and some fruit comes through. — 23 days ago

Château Smith Haut Lafitte

Pessac-Léognan Blanc White Bordeaux Blend 2020

Pop and pour. A splendid light straw color. On the nose: subtle notes of lemon, grass, Asian pear, brioche. Taste: lean, chalky wine with lemon, grapefruit, minerals, and a sour lime finish. Works with all the fresh fish tonight. — a month ago
