A cellar release from Dry River I bought a few years ago. Mid to deep crimson with a hint of tawniness. Great intensity - ripe strawberry - liquorice notes - savoury and sweet at the same time. A strange thing to say but it doesn’t scream Pinot Noir. Grainy tannins. Similar experience as with previous Dry River Pinots to be robust, muscular and contained. Following day big and savoury - I stand by yesterday’s note. A great drink but lacks Pinosity. At least Bob Campbell MW liked it giving it 99 points. — 2 months ago
Medium deep ruby , quite thin ruby rim . Quite animal at first , deep tobacco and quite closed , touch cedar. More cool blackcurrant , blackberry , touch of mint , slightly medicinal . Quite present but fine tannins , balancing acidity . Touches of tobacco , medium bodied and ok length . This probably is better decanted , needs time . Will improve over the next 5 years or so, last a further 5. Tasted 08/09/2022 — 20 days ago

A blend made from the leftovers of the six single vineyards bottlings of Kumeu. Striking reductive nose of a high end Burgundy chardonnay. The palate is ok with some bitters and muffled acidity. It can use a little bit extra cellar time to round out. Excellent value at 25 euro.
Edit: on day two this came around very nicely, so up from 92 to 94. Just needs more time — 10 days ago
