This Grand Vin Beychevelle is in a beautiful window, like most 2005’s that I would characterize as brilliantly elegant as opposed to brut strength. Medium to full-bodied, with soft tannins, texture and purity. — 2 days ago
Plummy, blackberry, dried currants, mulberry, lavender, cedar, tobacco and smoke.
Smoky graphite and mineral opening with fully integrated tannins and overall cohesion. Lovely floral and berry mix with mulberry, cassis and currant, lavender, rose, and violet. Strong showing on a 38 year old wine.

Drinking beautifully right now. Cedar, a hint of roasted peanuts, cassis, violets. Flavors going from secondary to tertiary, with leathery notes, roasted green herbs, and other savory notes. Tannins are still showing, but given the flavor development I wouldnt wait for them to soften further. Very good value! — 21 days ago
2005 vintage. Decanted and tasted immediately and through 3 hours. Great fill/appropriate aging cork. Medium sed. Noticeably dark color. Any trace of the usual Cos baby fat for the first decade+ after release long gone geek. Interesting. This was a lean, mean, street-fighting machine with "minerality" to spare. Intense. Compact. Unsure if it will continue to menace in the next decade of life or retreat into a reclusive, "turtling" period. Best guess? Street-fighter par excellence. Regardless of taking the high or low road, it's not devolving into a drink 'em if you got 'em any time soon scenario. Thanksgiving 11.23.23. — 16 days ago

Dark rubi robe, nose of blackcurrant, cedar and flowers. Very dense and elegant in the mouth, its balanced with very fine tannins, good length and complexity. This is top notch and good value at this high quality level. — a month ago

1989 vintage. 375 ml format. Good fill but cork had some red streaks all the way up to the top and it was difficult to remove the top part of the "fused" foil. Decanted and tasted over the course of three hours. Expected sed. Light-medium body. Nose on point with the vintage/age and didn't seem abused/mistreated. Flavor profile a mishmash of chunky and resolved. Ultimately, came in slightly short on the balance ledger side. Lean, judicious fruit okay but not totally reconciled with the final exam. If enjoyed from a 750 ml format, thinking it might climb up to a 9.1 currently. Maybe. A maggie format might reveal a revelation. 12.9.23. — 11 hours ago
