Cheers to the wines of South Africa 🇿🇦
This Hamilton Russell Pinot Noir is unique in that the grapes used to produce it primarily came, not from Hamilton Russell vineyards, but rather from neighboring vignerons.
Hamilton Russell made this unprecedented decision in the aftermath of devastating wild fires that imparted smoke taint to its estate-grown grapes. Unwilling to compromise on quality, I applaud Hamilton Russell for its tenacity and willingness to forge ahead to create this delicious Pinot Noir for its customers. 👏👏👏
This wine is comprised of fruit hailing from three different Hemel-en-Aarde (aptly meaning “heaven and earth”) Wards within the Walker Bay District, in the Cape South Coast Region of South Africa’s Western Cape.
This wine is a reflection of community, camaraderie, and commitment to excellence.❤️
👁 It is medium ruby with pale fuchsia rim variation.
👃 On the nose this wine has a medium(+) intensity of youthful aromas. The aromas include candied cherry, strawberry rhubarb preserves, violet, dried orange peel, white pepper, star anise, clove, and nutmeg.
👄 On the palate this wine is dry. It has medium(+) acidity, a medium body, medium alcohol, medium tannins, and medium intensity of flavors consistent with the nose. This wine has a medium finish.
Hamilton Russell, Pinot Noir, Walker Bay, ABV 13.5%. Vintage 2019. — 14 days ago
Quite delicate with traces of vanilla oak. Green melon, grapefruit and citrus on show. Light to medium weight palate. A well made Wine which won the Pam Dunsford Trophy for Best Chardonnay at the Limestone Coast Wine Show. Good QPR. Drink now or cellar for a few years. Bought this at the Cellar Door in March when we went to Bellwether in Coonawarra for vintage. — 20 hours ago
Inky color. Very aromatic, nose of dark fruit and spice, vanilla. Taste matches the nose - dark fruit, little spicy. Full finish. Very impressive. — 14 days ago
Продолжаю сегодня, 30.05.21 дегустировать базовую программу. Этот пино нуар 2019 года мне понравился. Мягкий, рафинированный, питкий. Мое. На нем и остановился. — 14 days ago
Peppery palate. 2014 purchased in 2021 for $30. — 7 days ago
Kitchen sink blend from South Africa: sorta all over the place, complex nose of lemon custard, apple, orchard fruit, white flowers, roasted nuts, butterscotch & honey. Silky suave on palate, oily, vibrant acidity - clean finish w/lanolin - quinine. Don’t know if these varietals belong together but it holds together just enough to pull it off. — 7 days ago
I finally found a delicious grenache rose for summer. I just hope my wine shop can keep it in stock! — 2 months ago
2017 vintage. Deep, rich garnet. Lovely floral bouquet. Violets, raspberry, cherry, slight cigar box. 13.9% ABV. Haven’t had a CA Malbec this good in a while. — 15 days ago
Pale lemon in color with a green hint.
Fruity nose of citrus, lemons, grapefruits, green apples, spices, tangerine and bitter herbs.
Medium plus in body with medium acidity. Crisp and refreshing.
Dry on the palate with grapefruits, limes, lemons, green apples, bitter herbs, spices, light earth and white pepper.
Tangy finish with limes and almonds.
This is a nice Albariño from the Central Coast. Easy drinking, very refreshing and tangy.
Needs a couple of minutes to open up, and better when not too cold.
A good quality wine and good by itself or with food. I paired it with fresh berries, cheeses and crackers.
Albariño grapes were fermented in Acacia barrels. A small production of only 276 cases made.
14.2% alcohol by volume.
