I’m between a 94-95 here. Not sure why I don’t buy more of these, especially at the price. Wow.
I poured this in a decanter upon opening, but it actually was quite nice at pop…then changed an hour later, and after corking to finish the remaining third later in the evening, it was even more of a beast. Bit of a chameleon, this one, in regards to its approachability. 100% cab. Dark royal purple in the glass. Aromatically it sports a lot of graphite, blackberries, black currant, mulberries, and espresso. Structure here is compact and big in style, but it’s so beautifully integrated. Palate shows the same type of dusty/graphite influence alongside the darker berry profile, with dark cocoa, and a streak of black cherry and mineral at the core that gives it some spice and lift. Good to open today if you can give it a 1-2hr decant, but easily cruises for the next few years.
This was poured alongside a 2013 Hidden Ridge 55degree slope and the 2014 Immortal (formerly Hidden Ridge). Since all three sported a good bit of Sonoma fruit, it was a cool experiment. The Kamen seemed the most balanced and structured, whereas the 2014 Immortal was the most extracted and over the top. The 2013 HR was in the middle. — 2 days ago
If you're looking for the pinnacle of Moon Mountain Cabernet Sauvignon in an old world style look no further. Bright acidity with elegant tannins are guaranteed to impress. Drinking great now. With potential to age gracefully — 9 days ago
@Delectable Wine this is the 2018 Pied a Terre Artist Series Cabernet Sauvignon Reserve. Thanks!
Nose is pretty funky out of the gates and this needs a decant as the winemaker told me. Palate is also closed and backwards but shows great promise. I’ll be back for a score. Not cool to judge it now.
3 hours open and we are finally getting there with a terrific fruit core and great acidity and freshness. Silky. Elegant finish. Very deep and long . But I can tell it's at 35-45% and has miles to go. The nose takes a while to open up as well but it finally has as well. Such complex minerality. That's the uniqueness of it. The finish is superb but this is a throwback wine and needs to be aged for 6-10 years. I'll see where it is tomorrow and the next day.

Dark purple color. Deep plum, herb, black licorice and purple flower aromas. Dark cherry, leather, pumice, and grilled sage flavors. Chewy tannins (but smooth) and a concentrated finish. Luscious, dense, intense and full bodied. Amazing quality for the price. — 22 days ago
The 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon, from vineyards in Alexander County, is bold and savory in the glass. Dark cherry, tobacco, iron, leather and dried herbs give the 2018 plenty of character as well as punch. The tannins are perhaps just a bit rustic. Otherwise, the 2018 is nicely done. Remember I don’t know much about wine, but I taste all phases of tobacco; from live in the field, to just before it turns to ash. This is suspended in turpentine, but in a good way. Color Dark Cherry. Nose rose. Medium tannins unremarkable. — a day ago
I decanted it for 30 plus minutes, made a big difference. Tasted like a $50 cab, paired well with beef tenderloin. — 3 days ago
The 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon from Roth Estate is bright, floral and very easy to like. Crushed flowers, spice, mocha and raspberry are nicely delineated in this delicate, perfumed Alexander Valley Cabernet Sauvignon. Drink it over the next decade or so. (Antonio Galloni, Vinous, July 2021)
