Bruno Giacosa

Roero Arneis 2020

Voluptuous, not at all like the past vintages. Reminds me of good vionier based Rhône’s. — 25 days ago

Serralunga d'Alba Barolo Nebbiolo 2011

Not as dense in colour as I was expecting. On swirling quite tawny on the rim. Aromas of dry red cherries, menthol and a touch of leather. Medium bodied for a Barolo. It does finish with dry dusty persistent tannins. An enjoyable Barolo in the mid to lighter style. Certainly not for long keeping. Went well with homemade pasta. — 14 days ago

Bricco delle Viole Barolo Nebbiolo 2003

Beautiful mint, rose, and tobacco elements with a vibrant herbal character. Nebbiolo usually ages very well, and this is a great example. — 4 days ago

Produttori del Barbaresco

Barbaresco Nebbiolo 2016

At this stage Ferrando Carema White Label ‘16 blows away Produttori Barbaresco ‘16. Produttori is very ripe, and the alcohol is less in balance. The ‘16 normale does not really exhibit the freshness and elegance I associate with classic Barbaresco. Yes, the concentration and depth is impressive, and maybe at 10-20+ years the wine will achieve harmony. For now it exhibits more climate change character than the high tone energy desired. This is a Grey Market bottle purchased recently. I wonder if less than pristine storage and/or transit was an influence. I will compare notes with bottles purchased on release and via authorized Importer somewhere down the road. — 10 days ago

Riserva Pora Barbaresco Nebbiolo 2014

This is another great example of the potential of the Produttori wines. Youthful wine but also very approachable. I love the fine tannins and lavender flowery nose. — 10 days ago

Perbacco Langhe Nebbiolo 2020

Quality everyday wines distinguishes Italian reds, and this is no exception. The colour is pale ruby indicative of a young wine, translucent almost, but not in the least derogatory. The nose is perfumed with rose petals, cherry, and hints of a clean morning forest. On the palate is its dry, light bodied, highly acidic, slightly tannic, medium alcohol, with moderate red fruit intensity, minerality, and earthiness; and finally a medium finish. Good to very good wine, perfect any day of the week. Versatile food pairings: pasta, chicken, vegetarian warm dishes, veal, pork, sandwich, or all by itself. — 22 days ago

Cascina Francia Barolo Nebbiolo 2004

Pretty similar colour to the Bartolo , medium deep garnet core , slightly less terracotta at the rim. Porcini mushrooms , sous bois , dried meat , really quite complex. On the palate more mineral , but with a strong meaty , porcini mushroom note , then with blueberry , blackberry . Very fine but present tannins , lovely balanced acidity . Long and really refined . With time in the glass shows well , but will improve over the next 5 -8 years and continue on a further 10 at least — 14 days ago

Red rose and red fruits on the palate . Good length . Drinking well and will continue to do so for the next 10 years or so. — 14 days ago

The best !!

Pio Cesare

Barolo Nebbiolo 2018

This Barolo wine has a medium-dark violet color, with a sort of brick red tint to it. Aromas of plums, blueberries, cassis and flowers come forth on the nose. The palate is black fruit and earth, with a peppery note and a firm set of tannins. A savory aspect rides along with the fruit, and there is a fine acidity which will make for some delicious pairings with food. — 25 days ago
