Palengat Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon 2020

Dark, inky color - lot of oak coming through on the nose and on the palette. Beautiful now but still so young. Oak needs to integrate further. — a month ago

Columbia Valley Dry Rosé Blend 2022

Light salmon pink, brilliant clarity. Mostly Cabernet franc in this one. Flavors lightly of white pepper, raspberry water and lemon peel, aftertaste of sage and minerality. More subdued than fruit forward but nice complexity for a dry rosé. Good acidity but not excessive. A perennial favorite for me that sings of WA state varietal character. — 2 months ago

Champoux Vineyard Red Bordeaux Blend 2009

Very dark rubi robe, nose of lead pencil, dark fruits, cedar and spices. Very elegant complex, but also bold and concentrated Bordeaux blend. Should be much better in 3 to 5 years. — 4 months ago

H3 Horse Heaven Hills Cabernet Sauvignon

This is a great everyday drinker. Aromatic nose, burst of fruit on the palate. Medium-low acid, smooth tannins. Nice warming finish. Black cherry, currant, raspberry, plum. End notes of oak, vanilla, and a hint of cocoa. Adding to my regular rotation. — 2 months ago

Champoux Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon 2009

Wow. I wasn’t sure what to expect from the wine, which I bought on a whim several years ago. It’s great. Classic scents of weedy cassis, inky graphite, clove, and baking spice. Flavors seem younger than an ‘09 from Washington would be. Intense and focused flavors. Rich cassis extract, iodine, savory minerals. Lengthy finish. — 3 months ago

Ripe blackberry jam, raspberries, green pepper and tomato leaf on the nose and palate. Black pepper and dark chocolate follow. Great now but will age well. — 3 months ago

Mosier Hills Estate Mencía 2016

Another visit to Oregon’s first Mencia wine, older vintage this time. Dense inky purple, apparently high pigment extraction. Strawberry, butter and light caramel aromas. Orange-citrus and light cherry flavor. Tight after two hours opening, tannins still wrapped up. Decant and wait awhile. Complex wine but still too early to assess — 5 months ago
