Bin 704 Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 2019

Dark ruby in color with a reddish rim.

Full bodied with medium acidity and long legs.

Dry and fruity on the palate with nice complexity.

Showing black currants, cooked plums, cherries, cedar, vanilla, chocolates, tobacco, herbs, spices, light earth and peppercorn.

Medium on the finish with soft tannins and tangy raspberries.

This young Cabernet Sauvignon from Napa Valley, is easy drinking and good right out of the bottle. Much better after a couple of hours in the decanter, though.

Smooth and elegant with a nice mouthfeel. A very nice sipping wine.

Robert Parker 94 points.

Will continue to age nicely in the next 5 to 8 years.

Good by itself or with food, like BBQ Meats. I paired it with a charcuterie board.

Aged in French oak barrels (40% new).

14.5% alcohol by volume.

92 points.

Bin 311 Tumbarumba Chardonnay 2018

This is probably the value for money Chardonnay in the Penfolds selection. The 2022 Annual release of Penfolds happened earlier this week including the 100 point 2018 Grange. This wine showed the oak still has some integrating to do. Stone fruit and minerality. Barrel ferment characters, cashew, a slightly creamy texture. Good palate intensity M plus. First of 6. From the classic cool climate regions in Australia for Chardonnay of Tumbarumba, Adelaide Hills and Tasmania. — 8 days ago

Funny thing - Ken Gargett came to my place for a tasting once with an exceptional wine (which was given to him gratis to taste). A tough life but somebody has to do it.

Grange South Australia Shiraz 2004

Wonderful weight and meatiness. Needed plenty of time to unwind but such a nice ride once it did. Subtle spice with rich cab notes. Decanted and consumed over two nights. Was just as good if not better Day 2. — 2 months ago

Bin 389 South Australia Cabernet Shiraz 2018

Referred to as the “Baby Grange,” blend of 57/43 Cab Sauv & Shiraz, aged for 12 months in American oak, partly in previous-vintage Grange casks. Dark Ruby with aromas of ripe black fruits, sweet and complex spice. On the palate juicy black cherry and blackberry flavors with notes of cacao and toasty spices. Well balanced with acidity, full ripe tannins, long ending with smoky spice, fruit well integrated with oak, drink over next 10 years+, will only get better. Tasted twice! Nice! — 7 months ago

Bin 28 Kalimna South Australia Shiraz 2018

A bit tight upfront but definitely opened up as time went on. Concentrated dark blue fruit encapsulated by warm vanilla oak. Plenty of acidity and backbone to be tried again in maybe five plus years. — 3 days ago
