Very Chablis in effect...only 20% saw time in neutral oak. Lemon pith and rind oil sing lead with fresh minerality woven into the vibrant acidic structure. Pleasant, sophisticated mouthfeel from the lees...very functional with baked/broiled delicate white fish. Ripe fruit from a great harvest certainly make this paradigm possible ;) — 2 years ago

Tasting Note:
Received a three hour decant and tasted blind. Deep and dark purplish ruby red. Layered nose with anise, cassis, cherries and rich undertone of black fruits as well. Heavy tannins (8/10) and full bodied. A light touch of heat on the palate but not overwhelming. Rich and lush palate with dark spices, blackberries, blue fruits, cinnamon and some dark cocoa. Long and lingering finish. A real treat to finally try a bottle! Drink till 2030.

One of the most prestigious wineries in the world, started by Jean Phillips in 1986 when she purchased a vineyard in Oakville that was cultivated by Ren Harris of Paradigm Winery. Now the estate is owned by Stan Kroenke who purchased the estate in 2006 with Charles Banks. This vintage was produced by Andy Erickson with Nick Gislason as his assistant winemaker. Made up of 75% Cabernet Sauvignon, 16% Merlot and 9% Cabernet Franc. Aged for alomst 24 months in 65% new French oak. Only 610 cases produced.

Oakville Cabernet Franc 2010

Good wine in a great place right now! Great density. Tasted the 10, 11, and the 12 with Ms Cakebread in our recent trip. I think she was surprised we didn't like the 12. Parker gave this one a 93, which I shockingly agree with. I think this wine has incredible depth and density, but it was ready to go at pop and pour without any decanting needed. I don't think this is too age worthy, which is shocking given its AVA. FWIW, it seems Crocker&Starr and Paradigm Francs are just better "built." Rock Cairn Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon 2010

My favorite N&N wine, hands down. Oak nose with mature blackberry. But the neatest thing about this: the nose has THE true expression of Oakville dirt. Got to smell the dirt at Paradigm and the nose of this wine ALWAYS takes me back to Oakville. Sweeter, dense blackberry fruit with a hint of vanilla and almost a purple note. Middle expresses the notes of the Oakville dirt. Lavender. Finished with nice, expressive notes of Oaked blackberry and POWER. For the heat they take among some winos, the one thing that cannot be denied is that they make consistently very good wine. — 5 years ago
