Popped and poured; enjoyed over the course of a couple of hours. The 1997 pours a deep garnet color with a near opaque core; medium+ viscosity with light staining of the tears. On the nose, the wine is vinous with beautiful notes of cherry lozenges, star anise, leather, horse blanket, black pepper, organic earth, and fine warm spices. On the palate, the wine is dry with medium tannin and medium acid. Confirming the notes from the nose. The finish is medium+. I recently got to spend some time with Ren and Marilyn Harris of Paradigm and he shared with me that he thought Zinfandel was a variety that has the potential of being longer lived than Cabernet Sauvignon. I didn’t argue with him. Anyway, this is a killer Rafanelli Zinfandel that is aging ever so gracefully. Drink now through 2037. — a year ago
Now this wine is ready to drink, unlike 5 years ago when I first tasted it. It still needs a lot of air to open up. Bitter, deep brooding black fruit and licorice. Bitter chocolate and smooth tannins in finish. A paradigm of Merlot from Bordeaux. A great buy now. — a year ago
Intense, powerful Cabernet Sauvignon that needs steak. Extraordinary flavor and great elegance and smoothness in the finish. An excellent Napa Cabernet, and a paradigm of this big style of wine. — 2 years ago
Beautiful California-style Cabernet Sauvignon. Slightly sweet and intense flavors. No flaws in this Cabernet Sauvignon. A paradigm of this style. — 3 years ago
The least favorite of the night out of a grouping of Caymus, Hawkes, and Paradigm Cabs. — 5 years ago
Buttery Chardonnay, greatly enjoyable. Shipped from the vineyard in its inventory sale at closing of Lutum for good. This bottle is a paradigm of California Chardonnay. — 7 years ago
Classic, elegant, and smooth Cabernet Sauvignon. Not complex but a paradigm of California Cabernet Sauvignon. Perfect with steak. Red fruit, oak, smooth tannins in finish. Open and drink: this wine will not get better with further age and does not need to breathe. — a year ago
Juicy, jammy American-style Syrah for those who like this style. I am not a fan of this style but this wine is a paradigm of the jammy style. Very fruit-forward so good with wings or taco night. A good value at $31. — 2 years ago
So clean and balanced. Not a complex wine, but just a perfect balance of only a mild sweetness followed by minerality and mild acidity. A Golden Mean in all its flavors. White fruit flavors. A paradigm of Mosel Riesling. Extraordinary QPR. — 4 years ago
“This isn’t merely a good Albarino it’s a paradigm shifting wine the truly brings out the best of its grape and place. Put it next to the great mineral whites of Chablis or the Loire and it doesn’t miss a beat.” - SommSelect — 6 years ago
Has held up beautifully with balanced flavor profile and soft satisfying finish. Great pairing with baked trout, beet medley with cream caper sauce & roasted brussels — 3 months ago
Delectable, fruity with a touch of smoke — 4 months ago

Beautiful Syrah. Cranberry and leather and earth. So complex. Earth and red fruit nose. A paradigm of Syrah. — a year ago
High expectations for this given the Paradigm winemaker legacy and the name!
Not quite at the Paradigm level but still very enjoyable.
The red fruits dominants with cherry and almost had a Sangiovese like flavor profile. Definitely not that much acidity but good tannins. — 3 years ago
Well, the 2016 has turned the page / it seems to be paradigm shift from the previous vintages (tighter, restrained, minimal oak). The ‘16 is quite voluminous with warm caramel brioche and baked lemon liquor. While golden and opulent, this is not a gentle and elegant food wine. Thus I am on the fence whether I want another bottle… I probably will get one because it’s still available and look for a better food pair. Day two, allowed for some beautiful sipping, though ;) edit: I will get another bottle…very nice sipper on day 2…mouthfeel is glorious! — 5 years ago

Awesome producer! 1hr+ decant. Lovely red color. Nose had pencil shavings and vibrant fruit. Classic Napa sweetness on the palate with caramel integrated with cedar. Napa all the way but unique in its own special way! — 10 days ago
