Evangelho Vineyard Heritage Zinfandel Blend 2016

Soft, warm, spicy, inviting—dried cherries, cocoa, floral tones, tomato leaf, cracked pepper; soft tannins and lightly viscous. No need to wait. A great pairing for a very elegant barbecue — 10 days ago

Evangelho Vineyard Heritage Red Blend 2018

Almost unfair to rate it at this point. Too soon. It will likely be very special in a handful of years. — 11 days ago

Cloudy Bay

Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc 2020

Pale lemon with aromas of citrus and tropical fruit with floral notes. On the palate flavors of grapefruit, green apple and pear fruit flavors with some grassy tones, lively acidity. Medium+ finish ending with fruit, herbal, floral, grassy and mineral notes. Lightly chill so you can experience all of the nuances while you sip this fine wine. — 7 days ago

Deep purple color. Aromas of blackberry, blueberry and leather. Pretty good GSM from the Santa Cruz mountains. Bold dark fruit flavors, nice dry finish. — 14 days ago

Horseshoe Vineyard Syrah 2013

Pop and pour, notes from 4 hrs open. Cork was penetrated about halfway, just like the last btl (this was an auction purchase, so I can't speak to provenance). Wow, a little over 3 years from my last btl. On the nose: cracked blacl pepper, wild strawberry, sweet black raspberry, a touch of va, but cool if that makes sense, and some soft underbrush. On the palate: fantastic acidity, more black pepper, soft creamy bacon fat, blackberry, but slightly thinner than the nose suggests. So light and lively for a syrah. Supple, but serious tannin on the finish, which leans slightly green. Very good. — 19 days ago

Alma Gist Ranch Estate White Blend 2016

Just revisited 2016, glad I knew to hold onto a bottle. With holding a year or so, obtained at tasting room pre-lockdown, the wine has pleasantly evolved in the directions I was hoping.

Color has gone from clear/green to lemon yellow, floral notes on the nose, with jasmine green tea, honey, white grapefruit pith on the palette.

Delighted to witness the evolution. Expand plantings, good job Tommy Jr.. More please.

Estate Monte Bello Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon Blend 2016

My ‘Mercian wine for a happy 4th! And these exploded! The cab was very good. Initial nose was big, but the mid palate was thin, even watery. Finish brought it back. Threw it in a decanter and 6 hours later it came together with black currants, chocolate, and just enough oak to backbone without ruining it. Meanwhile we had the ridge Syrah behind it which is my happy place. — 19 days ago

Family Farm Vineyard Pinot Noir 2015

Dark rubi robe, asian spices and dark fruits on the nose, medium bodied, complex, elegant, long and top notch pinot. We think its too young and still has some baby fat to shed. Try in 2024 or 2025. Its a great bottle that requires time. — a month ago
