Bodega Chacra

Barda Patagonia Pinot Noir 2022

Really quite nice. On the very restrained end of the spectrum. 12.5%, quite herby and minerally vs fruity. Hadn’t had Chacra before and so made it part of my “branch out” case with wines from outside of France, Italy, and Germany. Nice pairing with mustard and tarragon chicken thighs. Great delicacy to the mouthfeel. Finish a bit lacking keeping this from being higher. — 13 days ago

Bodega Chacra

Mainque Chardonnay 2022

Linear, precise but with some weight. Perfect pairing wine. Lemon and citrus (mandarin orange juiciness) forward with creaminess and weight on the back. Mersault like but has a distinct pithy, citrus peel and umami character on the mid palate. — a month ago

Bodega Noemia de Patagonia

A Lisa Patagonia Malbec 2022

Needs time to blow off the baby fat, better on day 2 actually.
Fruit forward with ripe raspberries & huckleberries with some baking spice, a touch of bark and a a fresh, mineral note.
On the palate this is plush with velvety, juicy, rich tannins, fresh acidity and a nice mineral streak. Balanced & with nice flow.
Unabashedly new world style yet with a good drink factor.

Bodega Familia Schroeder

Saurus Barrel Fermented Malbec 2021

Superb, complex Malbec from Neuquén province of Argentina. With Javier and Chieko in Buenos Aires. Crazy inexpensive here (equivalent of US$5.50) but still toward the upper range of Malbecs. — a month ago

Saurus Select Patagonia Pinot Noir 2021

It went really well with Trader Joe’s Kung Pao Chicken. It has a smooth flavor, mineral without tannins, and fruit that counteracts the spice. — 13 days ago

Schroeder Estate

Patagonia Malbec 2019

Soft, easy drinking and lovely. However, not at all a classical tannic, leathery, flat iron steak wine. Lovely — 16 days ago

Bodega Chacra

Lunita Patagonia Pinot Noir 2021

My first wine from Patagonia. In the light to medium bodied savoury mould. Red cherry, a touch of strawberry, red florals and a gamey note. Medium plus intensity on the palate. Varnishy notes. If tasted blind I could’ve picked this as Australian, like Gippsland, where we have just been. Not overly complex but it is young and still tight. It will develop further in the 2020 to 2030 decade. Picked off the Wine List at Supernormal Melbourne - fabulous food. — 2 months ago

She has some older siblings, Chacra Trenta Dos & Chacra Cincuenta Cinco, which are more complex and elegant. if you get a chance I highly recommend.

Thanks for the tip Jose. Might be a little rare in Australia but I will keep an eye out.
