Alpha Domus

The Navigator Estate Red Blend

Cassis, black fruits, violets and red liquorice nose. Well structured on the palate with bright, floral acidity, and soft, subtle tannins. Short, pleasant finish that pairs well with a bit of char, and unique BBQ flavours. — 6 years ago

Château Smith Haut Lafitte

Grand Cru Classé Pessac-Léognan Cabernet Sauvignon Blend 2012

Dates back to the Crusades & Scottish navigator, George Smith, owner in 18th century, followed by M. Duffour-Dubergier, Mayor of Bordeaux, then Louis Eschenauer, wine shipper. In 1990, Daniel & Florence Cathiard now own estate. A blend of 55% Cab Sauv, 40% Merlot, 4% Cab Franc, & 1% Petit Verdot. Dark red with dark berry fruit aromas, cedar and sweet spice. On the palate rich & complex ripe black fruit flavors, oak & cacao. Firm rich tannins, full, lingering, perfect balance. L-T aging. — 6 years ago

Good - thanks to my friends at Wine Slash! — 5 years ago

Strandveld Vineyards

Elim Syrah 2015

Strong mlf and smoke aromas, deep red colour, good balance of flavours with stewed blackberries, black pepper, and genuine clove flavours (as the label suggests!), nutmeg. High acid high tannin, good structure, you could keep for another 3-5 But hot to trot now. NB this was not navigator, it was 100% Shiraz — 6 years ago

Not big like a cab. Rich and smooth, velvety. Had with chicken cacciatore with black olives over candele pasta. — 3 years ago

Lodi Cabernet Sauvignon

Very supple. Lots of flavor. Few too many tannins for my taste. — 6 years ago
