Morey St. Denis, Côte De Nuits

Domaine Hubert Lignier

Clos de la Roche Grand Cru Pinot Noir 1996

Not bad but paled vs the 96 Rousseau Chambertin. A little match stick in the nose, disjointed. Beefy and young still but not fun at the moment. — 9 days ago

Mes Cinq Terroirs Gevrey-Chambertin Pinot Noir 2018

Rich, palate staining red & dark berry fruits that is balanced showing good acidity with mineral & savory spice. — 11 days ago

Mommessin

Clos de Tart Grand Cru Pinot Noir 2018

The Mommessin monster. I tend to only like this wine in “lighter” vintages where the heavy handed style gets balanced out. But 2018 shows impressive freshness, vibrancy and minerality to combat the warmth of 2018 wonderfully. But of course so so young. — a month ago

Clos de la Maréchale Nuits Saint-Georges 1er Cru Blanc Chardonnay 2017

Very heavy oak influence here—tasty but still seems a bit disjointed. Day 2 it hadn’t gotten any better. — 19 days ago

Les Murgers Nuits-St. Georges 1er Cru Pinot Noir 2011

2011 vintage. Solid aging cork in great shape along with a good fill. Decanted and tasted immediately and over the course of 1.5 hours. Threw zero sed. Light-medium body. Earthy, rhubarb, sous bois nose. Same in flavor profile with an additional, pleasant trace of dirtiness. Well-made and holding up very nicely but clearly on the subtle side of the ledger at this point. Any overt NSG fruitiness in the nursery is gonzo. Pretty but not in a youthful way. Aging very gracefully with another 5-7 years at this stage before changing addresses. 12.2.23. — 9 days ago
