This is the Central Coast, “Vicarious” Pinot from Modus Operandi- and it behaves nothing like what one’s expectations may be for such a thing. I’d love to hear about some of the vineyards because this Pinot, for its price, personality & value brings it. Delightful notes of spice box on the nose that leads directly to a welcome and syrupy palate of rich cherry, boysenberry and even some smoke towards the finish. I paid, with my own money to pick up six bottles of this debut effort of the Vicarious brand that was sourced from what must be some of the best vineyards for Pinot in ALL of the “central coast”. This is some great juice.

Dark ruby in color with a brick rim.
On the nose black currants, blueberries, light wood, earth, forest floor, tobacco, vegetables, Mediterranean spices, wet leaves, coffee, black pepper, over ripen cherries, vinaigrette and leather.
Full-bodied, smooth and elegant, with medium acidity and fat legs.
Dry on the palate with stewed blackberries, ripped black currants, licorice, earth, wood, light vanilla, Mediterranean spices, tobacco, peppercorn, espresso, chocolates and wet leaves.
Long tangy finish with round tannins and tangy raspberries.
This is a nice surprise. This is a very tasty Italian Super Tuscan. Tastes very much like a 20 year old Cabernet based Bordeaux blend from California.
Over the hill by now, but very interesting with great complexity and a yummy mouthfeel. Spicy with lots of earth notes and vegetables.
Wine Enthusiasts 90 points.
Good by itself or with food. I paired it with a charcuterie board of meats and cheeses.
A blend of 50% Sangiovese, 25% Cabernet Sauvignon and 25% Merlot.
13.5% alcohol by volume.

Even in Its youth, the 2018 Modus Operandi Cellars Pinot from the oft-heralded Bacigalupi Vineyard is more than just approachable- it’s unreal. The nose is already in bloom with oodles of Burgundy-like bramble berry, while the mouthfeel is as silk should be defined.
Frankly, I’ve never had a Pinot Noir like it, anywhere near it’s price. Not even close. — 3 months ago
Pretty rich and intense for a Merlot. A blueberry explosion with undertones of cocoa, plums, and a hint of vanilla. Delicious now but could benefit from a bit more time in the cellar. — 18 days ago

Light to medium ruby in color with a nose of plum, mocha, and hints of clove. Medium body with supreme structure. Velvety smooth mouthfeel with an amazingly long finish. 40th birthday wine! — 5 months ago
