Palmento di Salina Rosso Non Rosso 2020

Translucent red rather than dark pink like a light cranberry juice! Nose of strawberry, raspberry & maybe tart apple. Closer to medium body than light, not like a typical rosé. Fairly smooth with some tartness and mild acidity. Nicely balanced with some minerality like ocean rock ending with a touch of salinity. Nice- — a month ago

Amazing the location of the island in the Mediterranean. Closer to North Africa than Italy. I agree - a unique and delicious dessert wine.

Naturalmente Bio Sicilia Grillo 2021

Delectable Wine

The 2021 Grillo seduces with its sweetly floral and green citrus tinged bouquet, as crushed rocks give way to honeysuckle and lemon custard. A core of sour lime and melon tones add contrast. The palate is left reeling with mouthwatering tension and a lingering minty herbal streak. $19.00 (Eric Guido, Vinous, June 2022) — 9 days ago

Susucaru Dry Terre Siciliane Nerello Mascalese 2020

Very funky on the nose. It seems to open in the glass but I left it overnight and still has funk from the bottle. I wonder if it got too warm in the store. Anyway it still has a great game, herbal, floral, and bright cherry fruit. Best with food. I didn’t like as much as last year though. — 8 days ago

Jalé Tenuta Ficuzza Sicilia Chardonnay 2020

Impressive intensity and puligny style richness but not its finesse. Ripe yellow fruits with herbal impressions and a small popcorn note. Good acidity and a vulcanic twist. A surprise just south of 20,- eur. — 6 days ago

Quota N Rosso IGT Terre Siciliane Nerello Mascalese Blend 2020

Delectable Wine

A beguiling array of pepper-tinged florals, ashen stones and ground ginger finds purity and beauty in a note of vivid strawberry as the 2020 Rosso Quota N blossoms in the glass. This is finessed and mineral to the core with nervous acids that build energy, and a mix of red, blue and sometimes black, wild berry fruits that seem to morph with each tilt of the glass. It leaves the palate reeling with tension, as grippy tannins linger under an air of lavender and black licorice. Readers can certainly find pleasure here now, but the best is surely yet to come. The Quota N is a wild field blend of 50% Nerello Mascalese, 20% Grenache and a 30% mix of Grecanico, Carricante and Coda di Volpe from the north face of Etna. These ungrafted vines are between 80- to 100-years-old. (Eric Guido, Vinous, June 2022)

Viviri Grillo 2020

Nice art in that label. It’s a lovely golden-green in the glass. Smells like honey, springs in the woods, and lime zest. Flavors are a hint musky-herbal, acidic, and just a hint of the honey-beeswax that is on the nose. Lot’s of tongue smacks. This is a lovely little gem of a white. Perfect for when you want to go a bit fancy beside the pool. — 21 days ago
