Marine Sedimentary Willamette Valley Pinot Noir

It was fine. A well put together wine for a reasonable price point. More fruit than I was hoping for. — 7 months ago

Marine Leys

CroiZADe Vignereuse Duras Syrah 2019

Deep ruby color; dried herbs, plums and black cherries on the nose; high acidity; medium plus tannins; tastes like sour cherries, raspberries, and wet slate with a long finish. It's a little bitter at the end, but a very interesting wine. Not bad. I think it will pair well with the Ruben I ordered. — 8 months ago

Château Latour

Premier Grand Cru Classé Pauillac Red Bordeaux Blend 2009

Delectable Wine
9.8

The 2009 Latour has an open and generous bouquet: a mixture of red and black fruit and touches of graphite and loam. This vintage displays a light marine/brine influence. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannins, a fine bead of acidity, a firm grip and superb balance. This is very focused, with impressive salinity on the finish that lingers nicely. This is an extraordinarily beautiful Latour. Tasted blind from double magnum at a 20-year retrospective at the château. (Neal Martin, Vinous, February 2024)

Château Pontet-Canet

Pauillac Red Bordeaux Blend 1996

Quite deep ruby slightly narrower rim . This is more closed than any of the previous wines . Quite austere and more mineral , grafite notes . Quite serious on the palate with mineral and dusty cassis , cedar . Good refreshing acidity , slightly dry gritty tannins noticeable . This probably shows the best balance of the 4 so far , all the parts seem better integrated. Dark cassis , cedar and grafite , though not the marine/seashell influence of the 1995. Better length than all the previous wines . This will go further and is probably in the middle of its drinking window, from now and onwards for another 10 years perhaps ? — 8 months ago

Domaine de Ménard

Cuvée Marine Côtes de Gascogne Colombard Blend 2020

Popped and poured; enjoyed with dinner at Mycelium. No formal notes due to the setting. This had powerful notes of grapefruit and pineapple in near equal parts with a bit of lemongrass as well. Plenty of acid to work well throughout the meal (which was spectacular). Drink now. — 4 months ago

Château Lynch-Bages

Grand Cru Classé Pauillac Cabernet Sauvignon Blend 2010

Delectable Wine
9.5

The 2010 Lynch-Bages has a tightly wound nose: introverted black fruit, cedar and mint. Touches of iris flower and pencil box both emerge with aeration. These aromatics say: "Come back later." The palate is medium-bodied with sappy black fruit, fine acidity and firm grip. It feels linear towards the finish but is fresh with an attractive underlying marine note that enlivens and lends complexity to the finish. This is outstanding, but it is only for those with patience. Tasted at the Lynch-Bages vertical at the château. (Neal Martin, Vinous, July 2023) — 9 months ago
