The 2015 BDX continue to amaze and this Fronsac fits the bill. No decanting necessary. Jumping out of the bottle with beautiful red fruit and cassis notes, silky, and nicely balanced and integrated tannins, at such a young age, I am amazed. Feels like drinking a Grand Cru from a slightly lesser vintage. Great value too. If I can find it, I’ll buy a case. Hopefully two. — 6 years ago

Upon opening unreadable, tart and harsh. Needs about 2-3 hours to open up. Super earthy. Tons of sediment. Very herbaceous. Black forest thyme. Black cherry. Elderberry galore. A tour de force really. Still a ton of tannins - to much? Give it 5 more years? A wine on the edge - tip of the spear. As some of these high end E & M‘s are. I like their wines but not fully convinced of the 2015‘s. Same as with the 2015 Burghs. The hype might not pan out. 24 hours later - this wine needs potentially 10 more years of age - hard to say - mellowed out - orange zest, port wine characteristics, cranberry - still a little rough but for the E&M fans a treat. — 7 months ago

Thursday night on the precipice of another closed in weekend. Tonight I have opened the 2017 Domaine Les Grands Bois Les 3 Soeurs Côte du Rhóne. A blend of 65% Grenache, 30% Syrah and 5% Carignan.

On the nose I am getting heavy savory notes, cured meat, black raspberry, black cherry, bacon fat, black pepper, burnt caramel, clove, cinnamon a d smokey oak.

On the palate there is black cherry, black raspberry, savory notes, smokey herbal notes, black pepper, licorice, baking spice and dark soil.

This wine is full bodied with medium + acidity and medium to medium + fine tannins that leads right into a long dark brooding finish. This wine is still very young and needs time to fill out to show it's true self. We are starting to see a light at the end of the tunnel for this pandemic we have been going through.
