Tenuta San Michele

Murgo Etna Bianco Carricante Catarratto

70% Carricante 30% Catarratto from Sicily and yes I needed Jancis Robinson et al. to tell me what those grapes are. Dry with nice aromatics (curry, cumin, dried red pepper) and minerality. If you had told me this was Vermentino I would have believed you. Very nice and yes @Brendan Devine it’s natty. — 4 months ago

Garage Wine Co.

Single Ferment Series 215 BC Ferment Secano Interior Portezuelo Pais 2019

First wine grape planted in North America? You have my attention. Fascinating history of this varietal that I highly recommend reading up on if you’re lucky to have a friend like @Brendan Devine buy you the Wine Grapes tome. The wine itself is really tasty, desert-like in your mouth and has that full almost raisiny note that a lot of natural wines have. Give it a shot. — a month ago

Bouchard Père et Fils

Les Clous Meursault Chardonnay 2017

Light gold
Nose is intense with pear, roasted apples, almond blossom, charred oak, vanilla, roasted hazelnut and almonds. It smells devine.
Dry, medium acid, medium alcohol, full body.
Flavors match the aromas, but are rich and silky. Balanced, layers of flavors that blend beautifully. Outstanding wine.

Pas de Problème

Pinot Noir 2019

When in Fishtown. Gotta hit up the natty wine purveyors at Fishtown Social. This was the cheapest of the recent haul and it delivers nicely as an everyday Pinot Noir from the Languedoc. Mellow cherry cola, a hint of funk but not like those natural wines that taste like they were aged in a hockey bag. Hat tip to @Brendan Devine for putting me on to what NE Philly has to offer in the wine game. — 4 months ago

Château Cantenac Brown

Margaux Red Bordeaux Blend 2017

Blend of 67% Cab Sauv and 33% Merlot, bigger Cab% in ‘17. Deep Ruby with aromas of dark fruits, oak and spice. On the palate flavors of fresh blackberry, plum and currants with licorice and cigar box spice adding some cedar and slight floral notes. Fine ripe tannins, long finish ending with layers of fruit, cedar and spice. A joy to drink. Opening now but will last another decade+. Nice! — 2 months ago

Dry Creek Valley Barbera 2018

Probably the best red Mick Unti makes IMHO. This is a full-blooded vintage. Deep and hearty. Barbera with the gain turned all the way up. Lotta fuzz. In a good way. Dope Xmas gift from @Brendan Devine and the fact that I held out til March is no small accomplishment for a drunk like yours truly. — 3 months ago
