La Bastide Saint-Dominique

Les 2 Arbres Cairanne Red Rhone Blend 2017

Complex and fully developed at its pinnacle this early. Complex notes of raspberry sauce, cooked blackberries, smoke, dark cherries, caramel, meat, pepper, and herbs. Nice concentration and good finish. Outperformed expectations. — 8 months ago

En Remilly Saint-Aubin 1er Cru Chardonnay 2018

Excellent “natural” st Aubin that holds up to a classic palette. More classic than their Pinot noir. Really elegant and lovely. — a year ago

Côtes du Rhône Villages Red Rhône Blend 2020

Fruits, fermented flavor. Even in 2 years vintage, enough concentration. Young Grenache. A bit tannic even in 2nd day. 2020 @600, Kping -, 221021-221129 — 8 months ago

Cuvée Jules Rochebonne Côtes du Rhône Red Rhone Blend 2011

Drinking with mom and dad, bottle from Kay. Beautiful dark red color, deep ruby and can barely see any light through. Nose is cherry and the classic CDR. It is dry and the kind of flat red I always have a hard time describing. It is a little tobacco and it is a red that I can see but have a hard time describing. Very good, would drink again at $29 — 8 months ago

Château Grand-Pontet

Saint-Émilion Red Bordeaux Blend 2010

Lunch 🥪

K&L notes as follows, Grand Pontet is an interesting property, positioned in the neighborhood of other stars of the appellation such as Châteaux Canon, Beau-Séjour-Bécot and Clos Fourtet. It is, however, a small estate, a mere 14 hectares, and its prices are much better than some of its more prestigious neighbors. In 1980 it was purchased by Gerard and Dominique Bécot, owners of the neighboring Beau-Séjour-Bécot. They have applied the same high standards to both Châteaux in their possession, and their winemaking team crafts Grand Pontet alongside the Beau-Séjour-Bécot wines. Recently purchased in 2021 by Domaines Clarence Dillon (Haut-Brion, La Mission Haut-Brion, et al.), the property was combined with and incorporated into Château Quintus. Full-bodied and luscious, this Grand Pontet is laden with ripe blackberry fruits, savory tobacco, licorice notes, and ripe, softened tannins. It’s seamless and bold, not shy. It’s going to require something decadent to pair with, such as filet mignon or some other black-tie dish with plenty of flavor and rich umami presence.
