Le Petit Saint Vincent Saumur Champigny Cabernet Franc 2019

This is richer, more ripe than I was expecting. Red strawberry up front, then more subtly the pepper notes you expect come in. Mineral finish. — 7 months ago

Saint-Galet Châteauneuf-du-Pape Red Rhone Blend 2018

Batting at 2-3x it’s price point! Grenache centric but the M and the S balance it out nicely. Probably doesn’t have the structure to age terribly long, but yummy juice! — 4 months ago

Château Chantecaille Clauzel

Saint-Emilion Red Bordeaux Blend 2014

See previous note which was my longest ever Delectable note. This wine has such an interesting story. Virtually unknown and surrounded by Right Bank royalty like Evangile, La Dominique and Petrus. Mainly Merlot with a small % of Cabernet Franc. Dark fruits with blackberry and a touch of vanilla. Only medium weight with soft fine tannins. Quite detuned. Cost $45 and drinks to its price point unlike the expensive wines produced by the neighbours. This tiny 0.4 hectare block’s grapes would normally be absorbed by one of the neighbours and end up in a much more expensive Cuvée. The previous Delectable note is incorrectly called Chateau Vieux Chantecaille but the lengthy description refers to this same wine. — 6 months ago

Yes Peter. Having only 0.4 hectare there is no room for a winery so it is vinified elsewhere.

En Remilly Saint-Aubin 1er Cru Chardonnay 2018

Excellent “natural” st Aubin that holds up to a classic palette. More classic than their Pinot noir. Really elegant and lovely. — 5 months ago

Château Fayat

Promesse de Fayat Pomerol Red Bordeaux Blend 2016

2016 vintage. Promesse de Fayat is the second wine of Pomerol Château Fayat, owned by Clément Fayat (also La Dominique in Saint-Emilion, and Clément Pichon and Aney in Haut-Médoc). Château Fayat is a relatively recent name (2009) , as it is a fusion of 3 Pomerol estates (Prieurs de la Commanderie, La Commanderie and Vieux Mazeyres), resulting in a big (for Pomerol standards) 16 hectares estate. A solid, medium-bodied Pomerol. A little shy at first, but opening up nicely after 30 minutes. Black juicy cherries and dark chocolate. Serious tannic structure, fresh acidity and good length. — 7 months ago
