The 2021 Chablis Valmur Grand Cru, aged in foudres, takes time to unfurl on the nose with touches of asparagus and nettle, well-defined if rather austere at the moment. The palate is well-defined with a slightly peachy entry. Lightly spiced and harmonious with those foudres allowing the terroir to drive the finish. I can see this having broad appeal, and it should drink without too much bottle age. (Neal Martin, Vinous, September 2023)

Fine village level red, but rather disappointing after their fantastic 1er Cru La Dominode — 4 months ago
Drinking quite nicely. Be sure to decant or pour a half hour early to let it open up. Drink now. Paired with grilled pork tenderloin. — a month ago
So young and primary but shows the substance of 18. Nose is so mineral and deep with dark red cherry and mid season cherry and wonderful, expressive minerality. A deep earthy scent as well. Really wonderful depth on this. Palate is juicy and explosive with endless depth and super primary red and black cherry fruit. Super concentrated, structured with a huge, mineral and acid backbone: An epic Dominode. Wait a decade. At least.
Wow on day 2 this is so good. Smoothed out and full of fruit and silky yet substantial tannins. 9.4 to 9.5 overnight. I continue to strongly believe in the 18’s. They are modern day 93’s but better and more overall success across vignerons and appellations.

Cherry, hay, earth, Cola... Typical nose that I now associate with cru Morgon. It feels young and like it could wait on the side for another 3 to 5 years 😅
The palate is delicious. There is a great acid drive, there is some width, some lovely, crunchy (somehow) cherry notes, some tannins in the rear that are not so common in Beaujolais cru wines, before a long and complex finish with different layers : cherry and hay, that tannic layer and a reminiscence of the nose with a Cola touch. This is great and it will probably get better with some age! — 14 days ago
