Had this same wine 2 years ago…magnificent out of mag..red cherry, tart, elegant, earthy overtones, stony, slight leather, spicy, baking spices, delicious… — 12 days ago
Another dense young Boussey 18. Glorious fruit and minerals but a wall of tannin. Needs a 2+ hour decant. Nose is gorgeous cherries. Lipstick like intensity. I’ll be back. Texture gets softer and deeper with air. I love 18 but will take a while to get there. Incredible concentration and minerals. A great wine.
9.2 to 9.3 overnight. Superb earth and red fruits. Strawberry, gorgeous classic Burgundian aromas. Palate is super juicy and sleek. Great power and depth and unreal fruit. Delicious. Way better on day 2. — 12 days ago
Checking in on some 18’s. Nose is soppy red cherries and tons of earth. Floral and complex with great breadth. Nifty little lieu-dit here. Palate is powerful, dense and tannic. But has a terrific core of fruit. Really gets to the back of the throat and love how the tannins are mineral inflected. Has the “broad” character of 2018 which will I think, like 1993, ultimately smooth out with age. More closed than last year but it’s all there. Will be back. Now with air it’s integrating more and sweetening up and the tannins are becoming more velvety — 23 days ago
Dark rubi robe, nose of spices, crushed roses and dark cherries. Medium bodied, very fresh, balanced and complex but also bold structure, this is a joy of a wine done in the classical way. An enfant now but getting closer to drinking window. Give it 3 more years in bottle. It will sing. Enthusiastically recommended. — 19 days ago
Nose has fresh lemon slice, cut green & yellow apples, Italian bread, vanilla cremé and wet slate.
Palate has fresh pineapple, cold yellow apple, white flowers, sandstone and mild vanilla notes. Great acidity (as expected in the most youthful of stages, current vintage) with some drying, chalky aspects.
Decanted 90m. Another great Boillot Bourgogne Blanc to stock the cellar with for enjoyment 2023-29.
On the Lawn at Tanglewood this evening with the Boston Symphony Orchestra. Our Conductors Andris Nelsons and John Williams will be leading a very engaging program of Jessie MONTGOMERY (Starburst), John WILLIAMS (Violin Concerto No. 2, world premiere featuring Anne-Sophie Mutter!), COPLAND (Quiet City) and STRAVINSKY (Suite from The Firebird, 1919 version). We're getting the luxury of enjoying Mr. Williams two nights in a row...what a great weekend of Contemporary music! — 6 days ago
