Complex with grapefruit and cheese notes intertwined. — 17 days ago
Gorgeous nose. Luscious dark black cherries and darker red cherries. Ethereal and heavenly. So deep and so enveloping. Gorgeous dusty tree bark, some soy as well. Stunning. Best village nose of any Buffet Volnay I’ve had. The fruit clarity is off the charts. Superb complexity and freshness and the fruit is way redder on the palate. Amazing compact quality and so pure and balanced. Complex and so mineral. This is profoundly delicious. A lithe but substantial structure. Gorgeous saline aspect on the nose. Wow the mineral/fruit combo is only something Burgundy can do at this level. Now the florals are kicking in. What sweet, velvety tannins. A beautiful bottle of Volnay. This improved vastly with air, getting darker, more dark fruit driven and so sapid. brilliant! — 6 days ago
Stunning nose of terrific tiny berry fruit intensity. Tweed coat. Some herbals. Classic and so old school. Ripe and gritty. Kirsch. Beautiful fruit. Floral, expansive and so detailed. I could get lost in this nose. Huge fruit on the palate and wow on the mid palate. Sweet, concentrated and elegant but man this is young. Big tannins and super juicy with black cherry and terrific freshness but obviously needs some air to get more integrated. Stoney for Volnay. Huge structure like the other Buffet wines and the fruit core is stunning and they are toothsome but man is this young and backwards and I know air will help it as the finish is insanely backwards. Nose is getting more floral with air. As it airs it gets more elegant and complete. Tremendous fruit and grip. Like a squeegee of fruit. Black and dark. And so much.
This has mega potential and is as classic a Champans as i’ve ever had. 9.4 to 9.5 with air. — 9 hours ago
Always one of the most elegant 1er Crus in Volnay. Nose is a bit reticent as we start off with light cherry and some herbals plus some sweet black cherry fruit. Also some reduction which will blow off. Lovely bramble desiccated leaves and super wet earth and soil tones. What a palate. Teeming with energy and freshness. Wow great acidity here and tremendous fruit. Terrific inner mouth aromas and stunning sapidity. So elegant and structured with incredibly deep fruit. What length and seriousness! This is the first 2020 i’ve tasted that needs 3-5 years in the cellar. Amazing sweet tannins and they are so finely knit like a cashmere sweater. This is brilliant! I’ll be back as it opens. This got so complex and expansive with air. Stunning depth and purity. Really incredible complexity and a vast array of flavors. — 6 days ago
Just insane nose. Heaven. Haunting. Ethereal. Elite Chenes. Floral. Raspberry. Blackberry. Black cherry. Stunning depth and so so elite. 9.9. nose. One can get lost in it. Soft pillow on the nose. OMG nose. A why we hunt Burgundy nose. OMFG palate. Sweet, sappy, silky and so complex. Classy and so distinctive. So well knit. Inner mouth florals. Velvet is amazing. This might be a 9.9. So concentrated. Elite precision. OMG the finish keeps going and going. Why is this not a 9.9? not sure. — 8 hours ago
Glorious nose. Classic Pommard stoniness. Floral tones as well and dark black cherries. Gorgeous and fragrant. Cannot stop smelling. So classic. Gorgeous palate with top finesse and lovey sweet red cherry fruit and tremendous confectionery inner mouth aromas. Juicy and stoney tannins. After air the nose has strawberry and rhubarb. Really a 9.6 nose. It’s so spicey and floral and stoney. Gorgeously fruited and compact. Just a brilliant bottle. Velvety and sweet. So long. Such a nice contrast of decadent and cerebral. This is a wine that will benefit from age. It’s got a significant structure and classic Pommard tannins. But they are so sweet and the length is just boffo! What a wine. — 5 days ago
Charcterful niiiice white! Honeymelon and lichie with a long taste on the palate. Starts a little bit musty on day one. So maybe give some air to enjoy without any disturbing mustyness. — 7 days ago
