The nose is really superb, between bright notes of fruit (citrus fruits, apricot stones), barrel notes. Lively mouth, beautiful minerality, gunstone, notes of onion, poultry. Balanced, well-built body. Superb finish also, bringing together the tasting bouquet. Nice pleasure!
Beau plaisir! — 9 days ago
Just as aromatic as the Chorey-les-Beaune, but denser. Wafted from the glass with aromas of sweet berries, Indian spices, roses, and hints of wood. A bit angular at this stage, though the density, texture, and slightly saline finish does promise a lot with time. Can’t wait to revisit this in 5 years. — 15 hours ago
— 3 days ago
Pretty concentrated ruby dress. Evolved nose evoking Burgundy. In the mouth a beautiful smoothness, concentration, between evolved notes and fruit still very lively. A pretty bottle full of refinement. It can be drunk on its own.
Can still age 5/10 years, maybe more.
— a month ago
Generally consistent with my last notes, but drinking this side by side with the Cote du Py does bring to attention the differences in structure. At this stage, the Les Charmes has a slight edge over the Cote du Py for me due to it’s lacier texture and distinct mineral streak. The Cote du Py looks brutish even against this wine. A fascinating study of Beaujolais terrior. — 13 days ago
Off the charts good, textbook classic Syrah made in a clean and almost too perfect way. Where are the faults? Kidding aside this is about as good as anything I have had from St. Jo from Gonon or anyone else. All the classic notes of black pepper, roasted meats, bacon fat, olive, the hole package...the nose is very pronounced and the palate has freshness to the generosity, a super long finish and a very fun and enjoyable bottle! — 8 days ago
