Clos des Myglands Mercurey 1er Cru Pinot Noir 2014

Pop and pour. One btl remaining. This tasted over the hill at first: no nose, tired palate. I didn't pour it down the drain and my father-in-law insisted on tasting it. He said: it isn't flawed, which is true, but it also seemed well past prime at the time.
Nevertheless, after 3 hrs: nose of soft plum, gamebird and cocoa, and the softest touch of VA. On the palate, slightly less compelling, hi-toned black and red fruit with some green notes and a tangy, bright finish. Conclusion: seems solid to good with a fair amount of air!

Ravera Barolo Nebbiolo 2017

Expressive nose showing cherry, leather, spice with floral & tobacco notes where on the palate the wine was all about finesse & elegance. Beautiful follow up to the Faiveley. — 5 months ago

Bourgogne Pinot Noir

Low acid and dryness. Bourgogne warm leather and following though with tannic overabundance. Out with Angel — 4 years ago

Chambertin Clos de Bèze Grand Cru Pinot Noir 2011

Dark red and black fruits make way into earth and mushroom flavors. The same earthy mushroomy flavors dominate the nose. This wine has aged gracefully and maintains good tannin structure and acidity. — 5 days ago

Sta. Rita Hills Chardonnay 2014

This completely over delivers. Would have guessed a Faiveley Mercurey Blanc blind. The nose shows apple, tons of stony minerals, salt air and jasmine. The palate is lit up with perfect acidity; carrying all those same flavors along with some crushed rocks, tangerine, and fresh made caramel. 2014 is the best vintage of this yet. I want to lay it down a few years, but can’t resist drinking it now. — 4 years ago

Lovely, fully mature. Tannins are resolved. Sappy red fruits, sandalwood, balsam. Long. Third time I have had this in 2 months. All have been excellent. No need to wait! — a month ago
