French Camp Paso Robles Zinfandel 2015

Low ton nuns and some residual sugar. Nice — 3 hours ago

Caillez-Lemaire

Extra Dry Rosé Champagne Blend

Just concluded the annual Fall seclusion at our cabin in the Rangeley lakes region of Maine, mobile service up there is mostly non-existent, after several days I am posting again. Notes are somewhat brief, as my focus is relaxing and watching the Common Loons swimming and diving in the cove in front of our camp.

Solid producer, no new notes:
Nose has wet strawberry, orange peel, ripe stone fruits, pineapple core and light, fresh brioche notes.
Palate has strawberry-raspberry mash (light), orange/grapefruit pith, ripe peach (light) and wonderful limestone backbone.

Where’s your winter cabin?

We overwinter in our house in MA. We can't get into the ME cabin in the winter, unless the logging roads we access our property somehow get plowed, too much snow generally.

Caduceus Cellars

The Diddler Merkin Vineyards White Blend 2017

70/30 blend of Malavasia Bianca and Albariño from my home state of Arizona. Grapes from Willcox, vinted in Jerome, bottled in Camp Verde. That’s a lot of trucking, folks. Yellow-green, excellent clarity, clean nose. Floral, honeycomb and citrus flavor, almost tart, almost dry, apricot-citrus finish with some skin astringency. 13.2% alc/vol suggests early harvesting. Exceeded my expectations. Present from my brother who had similar feelings about the wine, saying “You’ve got to try this”. Not great, but much better than you’d think — 5 days ago

Nose has washed raspberries, sliced Clementine orange, peach skin and moist chalk.
Palate has dried orange, partially-dried cherry, peach skin and (minor) dried raspberry. Light acidity remains, our final bottle, this was a good run.

Nose has ripe peach, cut cherries, tangerine peel dry sandstone and moist hay.
Palate has strawberry, peach, lime wedge, tart cherries, dry-sandy soil and a long finish. This bottle is just holding wonderfully and as fate would have us, we're enjoying our last bottle of the vintage.

Solid producer, no new notes:
Nose has sliced brioche, cut red apple, bruised pear, warm caramel candy and wet limestone.
Palate has quince jam on faintly buttered brioche, bruised yellow apple, dried bread dough with a lingering touch of acidity/minerals with a long finish. Best as it warms and gains more exposure to air.

Went to a wedding many years ago in Rangeley. It’s beautiful. Another thing I remember is it takes longer to get there than you’d expect!

@Tom Casagrande Yes, not a quick hop from the Berkshires, but I'm good with that as one we arrive it's nothing but peace and quiet.
