The Sacred Burro Willow Creek District Carignan 2017

Always a pleasure, looks like I review this wine more than others! Dark fruits, cigar box, tannins still very present, probably should have let this sit for 5+ more years, but still great! — 7 months ago

The Royal Nonesuch Farm

York Mountain Clairette Blanche 2019

From Anthony Yount (also makes Kinero in addition to his main gig at Denner), this is a terrific, lighter style of clairette blanche. Has kind of a tight temperature window where it really signs - too warm and you lose the acidity, too cold and you lose the aromatics - but in its sweet spot just below 50 F it’s perfect. Will be interesting to see if it puts on a little weight with another year or two in bottle (which could be cool). — a year ago

Willow Creek Disctrict Zinfandel 2020

Them Denner peeps know their way around the grapes! Hadn’t had the zin in a while tbh but just delightful! Good spice, not baked as a lot of zins are but still with good fruit concentration. Vegetal finish. — 6 months ago

Denver? Denner? All the same.

Paso Robles Viognier 2017

Perfect blend of sweet, acid, and minerality. Very light in flavor (especially for the straw color) but flavorful. Honeysuckle, lime zest, and granite. — 9 months ago

Paix Sur Terre

Maison Mason Vineyard Ugni Blanc

The new vintage of Ryan Pease’s flagship white, this is off-scale good. Anthony Yount of Denner/Kinero/Royal Nonesuch told me he thinks Ryan’s ugni blanc is one of if not the best white in Paso…and I’m inclined to agree. Just fantastic! — 5 months ago

Quite the compliment. Can it be purchased online? I’ve enjoyed Kinero’s Grenache Blanc.

And what is the profile like? Big/rich, or more bright and higher in acidity? I normally love Rhône whites.

@Shay A, not sure if you can buy it direct absent being a club member, but the ugni blanc usually sells out from the winery pretty quickly. He also makes a terrific grenache blanc and picpoul blanc. All three are more Alsacian in style rather than Rhone.

Theresa White Roussanne Viognier 2019

Blend of 40% Roussanne, 20% Vermentino, 15% Grenache Blanc, 15% Marsanne, 5% Picpoul, and 5% Clairette Blanche, aromas of stone and citrus fruits with floral spice. On the palate flavors of apricot and peach with notes of honeysuckle, cinnamon and lemon citrus. Long creamy finish ending with fruit, floral and mineral character. — 8 months ago
