Dancing Hares Vineyard

Napa Valley Red Blend 2017

[Tasted on September 6, 2021 at Home with Jay Yalowitz]

Blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot. Dark purple in the glass. Black currant, plum and blackberry compote, with dark chocolate, an herbal note and dusty tannins. Big, rich wine.

Château Prieuré-Lichine

Margaux Red Bordeaux Blend 2015

2015 vintage. Last tasted 7.28.21 and 6.1.21. Smoke, coriander, roasted nuts and dark cherry still wafting throughout the nose but it’s picked up a leather/cedar habit to add to the dossier. Consistently medium-bodied altho starting to transition ever so slightly to light medium body. Baby fat almost completely gonzo. Finish maintaining balanced fruit/acidity and keeping a 30+ second wave goodbye. Cocoa powder that was dancing circles around the endgame palate six weeks ago is on vacation. — 12 days ago

Le Village Volnay 1er Cru Pinot Noir 2019

Lyle Fass
9.5

Wow. This smoked in 17 and I knew it was going to smoke in 19 for this little known gem of a 1er Cru. Haunting nose of sweet mid season cherry fruit, sous bois, wet earth, desiccated leaves, flowers (violets?), citrus zest and so many other nuances. Just a zany great nose. It’s screaming “I am Volnay” in my nose. Yes my nose. Palate is OMG heaven. Silken, sweet and seductive. Awesome mid season cherry fruit and perfect balance. Haunting finesse and a sphere like roundness and then such freshness that keeps it alive and dancing on your tongue. Such lacey, sweet and delicate tannins. Truly special. Unreal purity. 2019 is the real deal. This is liquid cashmere. It is so finely knit. Will be back in an hour as it opens up. 9.5 for now. — 13 days ago
