The Crossing Carignan Blend 2017

John W
9.2

Dark ruby coloration. On the nose, sweet blueberry and vanilla, currant and toasted oak. Hints of Creme brûlée. On the palate, medium- full bodied with a nice richness and body to it. Blueberry, dark berry and vanilla with forest floor, oak and must. Long finish of the same. Very nice blend. — 8 days ago

Delectus

Boulder Falls Cabernet Sauvignon 2009

Tasted right after finishing the 2009 Bear Crossing. This was also excellent and drinking well. An interesting comparison between the two. While the Bear Crossing had more depth, this one had greater breadth to the palate. Could be that this is ultimately a slightly better wine than the Bear Crossing and that it will gain some more weight in the next couple of years. Doesn’t much matter to me, though, since these were the only bottles of these two wines that I had in the cellar. Both excellent wines, though. Enjoy! — a month ago

Tenuta Sette Ponti

Oreno Toscana Super Tuscan Blend 2014

Just opened a bottle! Sette Ponti or "seven bridges," refers to the 7 bridges crossing the Arno River on the road from Arezzo to Florence. Blend of 50% Merlot, 40% Cab Sauv & 10% Petit Verdot, aged 18 months in new French oak. Had this in a restaurant with a porterhouse. Very dark Ruby with concentrated aromas of dark fruits & earthy notes. Flavors of cherry & plum with tobacco and spice. Fine approachable tannins, medium length ending with a bit of spice as the finish builds. Great now! — 14 days ago

Trackers Crossing

South Eastern Australia Cabernet Sauvignon

Great for $6–easily would buy at $16. Pairs well with pizza. — 2 months ago

St. Anne's Crossing

Reserve Rowe Vineyard Zinfandel 2016

For a four year old wine, this is still quite robust almost rambunctious. The oak isn’t subtle either. This is a pretty dry Zinfandel and would pair well with steak or prime rib. We have another bottle that I will definitely lay down for a few more years before I enjoy it. — 3 months ago

Delectus Winery

Bear Crossing Knight Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 2009

Had this a while ago. Don’t recall the details except that (a) it was excellent and in a great place for drinking right now, and (b) it exhibited more depth than the Boulder Falls (which is the next posting - which was also good). — a month ago

Santa Barbara Crossing

Santa Barbara County Pinot Noir 2018

An easy California Pinot Noir, typical of the central coast: bright, fruity, and mild enough to complement a range of food. — a month ago
