Margo Chehalem Mountains Pinot Noir 2021

2021 vintage open November 2023. Clover and pears on the nose. Light red fruit on the front—but then a brief hint of lychee fruit appears as the wine moves from the tip of the tongue to the mid palate. I don’t particularly like syrupy fruit tastes in my wine, but its flinty high notes quickly to drown out that almost subliminal episode of cloying sweetness. It transition into a finish that yields a soft landing. The tannic structure is not particularly complex, so I don’t expect this wine to evolve much in the bottle. This is one of those ultra lush Oregon Pinot’s. If the ascetic Sonoma coast pinots or the more tannic Burgundy Pinot‘s are to your taste then this wine is probably not for you, but I found it to be a pleasant but unchallenging tipple. — 16 days ago

Patricia Green Cellars

Olenik Chehalem Mountain Pinot Noir 2012

The 2012 Patricia Green Cellars Olenik Pinot Noir. From Chehalem Mountain Newberg, Oregon.

On the nose this had strawberry, stewed plum, licorice, spice, vanilla, forest floor and earth.

On the palate there was cherry, strawberry, mushroom, leather, black tea and undergrowth.

This wine is medium bodied with medium to medium + acidity and medium fine tannins that mive into a medium to long mushroom earthy finish. I hope everyone is well? I just came off a 2 and a half week bought of a head cold. I hope you have had a wonderful weekend. Please have agreat week ahead. Nostrovia! 🍷🍷🍷🍷

Stoller Vineyard Pinot Noir

9.3

Ridgecrest has always been my favorite Chehalem vineyard, but this 2011 from the Stoller Vineyard contends at almost 13 years. Pure, fresh, black cherry, fine acid-tannin structure, with a long, vibrant, elegant finish. — 4 months ago

Earthy, meaty, leathery, darkly fruited. Class, breed, finesse. Classic old school Ribbon Ridge Pinot. This wine needed these 15 years to express all that. I expect at least another five years of aging potential. — a month ago

Lachini Family Estate Pinot Noir 2013

Deep tar and smoke with spice on the nose. Almost carob.
It’s a wee bit too cold, so I’m trying to be patient.
Plums, licorice, bright acids, tobacco, dirt, very nice structure holding up 10 yrs down the road. A genuine @WTSO bargain.

A fave Oregon producer but haven't been able to find it in the San Diego, CA area for ages. Pity. Unique style.

Silice Pinot Noir 2014

October 18, 2023. Purchased at the vineyard July 2021 — a very special tasting experience! Enjoyed with dinner — wild Alaska sockeye salmon and potatoes al gratin. Lovely expression of Williamette Pinot. Complex flavors of red fruit with a hint of mushroom. NOTE: This review is for Bergstrom Temperance Hill Vineyard, Oregon Pinot Noir Pinot — a month ago
