Chateau Grand Traverse

Charles Coquet

Dandy Grand Cru Champagne Blend

Deep rose gold with white mousse and fine bubbles. Abundant nose of pome fruit and toasted white bread. Palate is bright and rich, echoing the nose and adding dried white cherry mid palate to finish. This 50/50 Pinot Noir/Chardonnay blend with extended lees contact gives a classic, rich style cuvée. Ideal for brunch, gifts, dinner, and of course any celebration. Drink it when you buy it. — 2 days ago

Rogue Vine

Grand Itata Los Amigos Red Blend 2014

Dang, this wine has such a unique, complex expression, hopping across layered aroma and flavor categories! It’s a 2014 Rogue Vine, Grand Itata Tinto, Los Amigos Red Blend hailing from the granite hills of ITATA in Southern Chile.

This wine is made with 95% Cinsault and 5% Pais varieties, coming from organically grown, dry-farmed (no irrigation), bush-trained vines that are over 60 years old!!

This wine has a pale ruby hue with secondary garnet influences.

On the nose, it has developing, intense aromas of black cherry, strawberry, anise, mint, eucalyptus, potpourri, clove, black olive, rooibos tea, tobacco, cigar, peat moss, and leather.

On the palate this wine is dry, it has medium acidity, medium alcohol (12.8%), a medium body, medium(-) tannins, and medium(+) intensity in flavors consistent with the nose. The finish lingers.

I love that this wine is the product of a fierce passion, shared by friends (and friends of friends), who have committed themselves to producing expressive Itata wines that are gulpably delicious! Salud!

Domaine Ramonet

Batard-Montrachet Grand Cru Chardonnay 2006

Light to medium gold color, heavy in the glass. Great perfumed nose. Notes of citrus, oak, kiwi fruit, some tan spice and a hint of spearmint. Fruit forward in the mouth. Nice texture. Drinking well for the hot vintage. Nicely pleasing and in a good spot. — a day ago

Vincent Girardin

Quintessence De Corton-Charlemagne Grand Cru Chardonnay 2004

Light gold color, youthful appearance in the glass. Great CC nose with notes of citrus, ginger, reddish clay, wet stones and tan spice. Fruit still very present, matched against some fine-grained acidity. Awesome mouth feel. I know some of these can go south sooner rather than later, but this was right in the zone - youthful with plenty of energy. Great showing tonight. — 11 days ago

Domaine François Raveneau

Valmur Chablis Grand Cru Chardonnay 2002

Of the 3 grand cru Chablis chez Raveneau, Valmur is my favorite. I find Blanchots less minerally, Valmur the most minerally, Clos just behind Valmur. The best ever for me, shockingly, is 1994 Valmur, then 1996. We had a stunning wine of the trip 2010 Valmur in Champagne at Les Crayeres.

So I was eager to drink 2002. Fabulous from the get go. Pop and pour, first w a pâté de campagne, then with roast duck and herb risotto at Opal in Santa Barbara. Waiter foolishly declined the proffered pour.

Just super citrus zest bejeweled with minerals and hints of menthol, super acidity, all balanced and long, depth and weight with no heaviness. Simply great Chablis. Loved it.

Jérôme Prévost

Extra Brut Grand Cru Champagne Pinot Meunier

Disgorged in 2021, this new and ultra rare bottling from Prévost has debuted with the LC19 release comprised from grapes purchased “from sources that emphasize cultivated soils, low yields and full ripeness.” The base wine is a blend of equal parts Chardonnay from Le Mesnil and Pinot Noir from Puisieulx, at the northern end of the Montagne de Reims. Then, there is 20% reserve wine from 2018. While of course very young, it shows incredible depth and complexity today, and quite Burgundian and to no surprise, vinous in its expression. It flaunts a deep caramelized stone fruited profile with salted hazelnuts, curry leaf, gun smoke and lavender. The full bodied and satiny textured palate is just riveting with energy and it gives way to a mineral and saline driven finish that goes on and on. Wowza. — 13 days ago

Grand Napa Vineyards

Stone Crib Single Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon 2018

Grand Napa Vineyards Stone Crib Vineyard Rutherford Cabernet Sauvignon 2018, Napa Valley, California

It's time for my
#FridayCabernetfix. Here is a delicious Cabernet Sauvignon from Napa Valley.

Dark ruby in color with a short reddish rim.

Fruity nose of blackberries, sweet cherries, cedar, spices, espresso, vanilla, dark chocolates, light earth, tobacco leaf and black pepper.

Full bodied and smooth, with medium acidity and long legs.

Dry on the palate with blackberries, plums, cooked cherries, oak, dark chocolates, vanilla, licorice, cloves, spices, coffee, peppercorn, earth, black tea, light wet leaves and herbs.

Nice finish with round tannins and tangy cherries.

This Single Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon from Rutherford is still young, and would be even better in a few years. Already showing nice complexity with a nice mouthfeel.

Rich, yet elegant. Nicely balanced and smooth.

Good right out of the bottle and better after 2 hours of airtime. Fruit forward and extracted.

This 4 year old will continue to age nicely in the next 10 years. Will be nice to revisit it in 3 years and see how it evolved.

Good by itself or with food. Paired beautifully with a filet minion and asparagus.

Grapes were aged for 24 months in (80% new) French Oak barrels. Limited Production.

14.8% alcohol by volume.

92 points.

$165.
